Are Wall Street Analysts Predicting Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Stock Will Climb or Sink?

With a market cap of $50.3 billion, Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation (WAB)  is a global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for the freight and transit rail industries, as well as mining, marine and industrial markets. With more than 155 years of rail-industry experience, the company is focused on advancing sustainable rail transportation in the U.S. and worldwide.

Shares of the locomotive parts maker have outperformed the broader market over the past 52 weeks. WAB stock has climbed 52.4% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPXhas rallied 18.3%. Moreover, shares of the company are up 39.8% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX’s 11.8% gain.

Focusing more closely, shares of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based company have outpaced the State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLI17.2% return over the past 52 weeks and a 15.7% YTD rise.

Wabtec shares jumped over 10% on Jul. 22 after Q2 2026 revenue rose 17.5% to $3.18 billion and adjusted EPS increased 22% to $2.76, both beating the consensus. The company raised its 2026 revenue outlook to $12.30 billion - 12.60 billion and adjusted EPS guidance to $10.60 - $10.90, with the revenue midpoint $110 million above its prior guidance midpoint. Strong demand across Freight and Transit, along with a $30.93 billion total backlog, up 41.7%, and an expanded adjusted operating margin to 21.9%, further supported the stronger outlook.

For the current fiscal year, ending in December 2026, analysts expect Wabtec’s adjusted EPS to grow 21.1% year-over-year to $10.86. The company's earnings surprise history is promising. It topped the consensus estimates in each of the last four quarters.

Among the 13 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on nine “Strong Buy” ratings and four “Holds.”

This configuration has remained unchanged over the past three months.

On Jul. 24, J.P. Morgan analyst Tami Zakaria maintained a “Hold” rating on Wabtec and a $315 price target.

The mean price target of $329.17 represents a 10.3% premium to WAB’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $355 suggests an 18.9% potential upside.
