What You Need To Know Ahead of Align Technology's Earnings Release

With a market cap of $10.6 billion, Align Technology, Inc. (ALGN) is a global medical device company that develops and markets Invisalign clear aligners, Vivera retainers, and iTero intraoral scanning systems for orthodontic and dental care. It operates through Clear Aligner and Imaging Systems segments, offering advanced digital solutions and treatment options for patients and dental professionals worldwide.

The Tempe, Arizona-based company is expected to unveil its fiscal Q3 2026 results after the market closes on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Ahead of the event, analysts forecast ALGN to post a profit of $2.33 per share, a growth of 12.6% from $2.07 per share in the same quarter last year. It has surpassed Wall Street's bottom-line projections in three of the past four quarters while missing on another occasion.

For fiscal 2026, analysts expect the Invisalign tooth-straightening system maker to report EPS of $9.36, a 10.6% rise from $8.46 in fiscal 2025. Moreover, EPS is anticipated to grow 11.1% year-over-year to $10.40 in fiscal 2027.

ALGN stock has gained 14.2% over the past 52 weeks, underperforming the broader S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 15.4% rise and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLV) 22.6% return over the same period.

Align Technology shares fell 3.7% following its Q2 2026 results on Jul. 29 as Imaging Systems and CAD/CAM Services revenue declined 10.8% year-over-year to $185.3 million, reflecting persistent weakness in the capital equipment market and a shift toward lower-priced scanners and leasing and rental models. Net income fell 13.1% to $108.3 million and EPS dropped to $1.51, partly due to a $37.5 million UK VAT liability and foreign-exchange impacts of approximately $0.23 per share year-over-year.

The outlook also indicated pressure ahead, with Q3 2026 revenue forecast at $1 billion - $1.02 billion, down sequentially, and full-year Systems and Services revenue expected to decline 6% - 8%, despite Q2 total revenue rising 4.3% to $1.056 billion and Clear Aligner revenue increasing 8.2% to $870.9 million.

Analysts' consensus rating on ALGN stock is cautiously optimistic, with a "Moderate Buy" rating overall. Out of 15 analysts covering the stock, opinions include seven "Strong Buys," six "Holds," one "Moderate Sell," and one "Strong Sell." This configuration is less bullish than three months ago, with 10 analysts suggesting a "Strong Buy."

The average analyst price target is $190.50, suggesting a potential upside of 27.9% from current levels.
