On July 30, SO stock declined nearly 1.8% following the release of its mixed Q2 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the quarter amounted to nearly $7 billion, falling short of the Street’s forecasts. However, its adjusted EPS came in at $1.13, successfully topping the consensus estimates. Management cited the drivers for its earnings as investment in state-regulated utilities, customer usage and growth, higher earnings from equity method investments, and lower income taxes, while also being partially offset by higher interest expense.

Analysts’ consensus opinion on the stock is neutral, with a “Hold” rating overall. Of the 24 analysts covering the stock, six recommend a “Strong Buy,” one suggests a “Moderate Buy,” 15 recommend a “Hold,” and two recommend a “Strong Sell.” SO’s average analyst price target is $96.86, indicating an upside of 4.3% from the current level.
