Some EAs we use are great, but sometimes they don't have built-in drawdown limiters internally that just affect the EA. Other DD limiters operate on the whole account, this one is designed specifically so one EA (designated by the magic numbers it uses) can be monitored and closed off if it reaches a certain DD limit.

1. Find the magic numbers the EA uses. Normally (including for martingale / grid EAs) they start with a base number and go up. Right-click 'Columns' in your terminal and select 'Magic Number' to see which number(s) your EA uses.

2. Open a blank EURUSD or other popular chart select the 1min timeframe (recommended), then add EA Drawdown Limiter to that chart. Input the Base Magic Number your EA uses in the 'EA Tracking ID / Base Magic Number' box, and enter the account balance drawdown you want to limit the EA to.

3. When EA Drawdown Limiter finds trades from the EA's Magic Number are exceeding the balance drawdown you've entered, EA Drawdown Limiter will close all of the EA's trades.

FAQ

Does EA Drawdown limiter need to be attached to a chart of the same pair the EA uses?

No, it can be attached to any pair chart, I recommend EURUSD M1. It DOES have to be attached to a chart within the same terminal and account that the EA you want to control is using.

Some details were changed either by me or every tick, why haven't the numbers in EA DD Limiter changed yet?

EA DD Limiter only updates at the frequency of once per bar of the chart it's attached to. If it's attached to an M30 chart, it will only update every 30 minutes, for M1, it will update every minute (this is to save processing power). Please note, it will also only check to see if it needs to close your EA trades at the frequency of the chart bars too. Because we're dealing with drawdown limits, this is why I recommend the most frequent chart, M1.

Should I test EA Drawdown Limiter works with my account before relying on it in my live account?

YES! It's important to make sure it closes your EAs trades / everything works as expected. I recommend you input the EA's Base Magic Number and select '0.01' as the DD limit percentage. Then when your EA opens a trade and it goes into drawdown, the EA should close the trade quickly, and you should find the trade making a small loss in your trade history tab. This is a successful test.

What does the 1-+20 mean for Magic Numbers?

For most EAs, they will trade using the EA ID or Magic Number as a base number, then subsequent trades will be made with numbers going up from there, e.g. Basic Magic Number = 10001. Trade 1 = 10001, trade 2 = 10002, 3 = 10003, etc. EA Drawdown limiter covers / monitors all of these trades up to the 20th one, e.g. 10021.

1.Creating Alerts

After creating condition lists you will be done and then you choose if you want to activate your alert and make it start working.

2.Modifying an alert

If you want to to change your alert at anytime you can do so by Modifying alert name and/or alert frequency ,Adding a condition ,Modifying a condition or Deleting a condition.

3.Alert list

If you want to view your saved alerts at anytime you can do it and activate ,deactivate ,delete or view its details.

4.Tips and devices

If you close the tool entirely the alert will not work ,rather minimize the window if you are not using it any longer.
In order to receive notifications you must go to Tools -> options and in the notifications tab you must enable push notification and notifications from local terminal. You must also enter your MetaQuotes ID which you can get in your Messages tab in your mobile device labeled \"MQID\". Also make sure your MT5 app has permission for notifications in your mobile device.
In order to receive email notifications you must go to Tools -> options and in the email tab you must enter the details.
Fully maximize your chart window to view all controls on the panels.

Sub-value types

Some value types have sub-values to choose from e.g Price(value type) has opening price ,closing price ,high and low sub-values and the 1st or 2nd value of the condition will use that sub-value when condition is being compared(see image 4).

Symbol and timeframe

Some value types will require you to choose their Symbol and Timeframe e.g if you choose Moving average as your value type in a condition ,it will need a symbol (EURUSD,GBPUSD) and timeframe (1hour,2hour).(see image 5)

Adding condition to list(see image 6,7 and 8)

After creating a condition you must add that condition under the current condition list.
To fully view the condition before adding it you must press show current cond fully button.

After adding all conditions and saving the alert message you must add that list and you can start a new one.
After you are done with with all lists press Done and you will be taken to a list of Alerts where you must activate the alert so it can start working.

Time value type

This value type has the current hour ,current minute ,current day of the week ,current day of the month ,current month and current year as it's sub-value types.
Current Hour-(from 0 to 23).
Current Minute-(from 1 to 60).
Current day of the week-(from 1 to 5).
Current day of the month-(from 1 to end of the month).
Current month-(from 1 to 12).
Current year-(full year e.g 2023).

Value candle number

Some value types require candle number e.g if your chosen value type is Moving average in a condition you must choose a candle. If the candle number is 0 it will use the current Moving average value from the current active candle every time a condition is checked ,if it is 1 it will use the first candle after (previously closed).

ProminentMedianWidth (default = 4) — the width for the prominent median (PPOC) if ProminentMedianPercentage is set to 100 or less.
RightToLeft (default = false) — if true, the current session's market profile has its histogram drawn from right to left. In case Session is set to Rectangle, market profiles of all sessions are drawn right-to-left.

Performance

PointMultiplier (default = 0) — the higher it is, the wider are the profile's price boxes and the fewer are the chart objects. You can use it to reduce the indicator's load on CPU. When the value is zero, an adaptive multiplier is used — the indicator attempts to calculate the optimal value automatically.
ThrottleRedraw (default = 0) — a delay in seconds that will be applied before each redraw of the profiles. You can use it to reduce the indicator's load on CPU.
DisableHistogram (default = false) — if true, no market profile histogram is drawn, but Value Area and Median are still marked. This makes indicator work extremely fast, but is less useful for thorough market analysis.

Alerts

AlertNative (default = false) — if true, the indicator will issue the platform's native pop-up alert when some alert conditions are met.
AlertEmail (default = false) — if true, MetaTrader's email alerts will be sent when some alert conditions are met. Email should be properly configured in MetaTrader via Tools->Options->Email
AlertPush (default = false) — if true, MetaTrader's push notification alerts will be sent to your mobile device when some alert conditions are met. Notifications should be properly configured in MetaTrader via Tools->Options->Notifications. This alert type is not available in the cTrader version of the indicator.

Two effective filtering and risk adjustment mechanisms are built into the EA:

1. Relative volume (RVOL) adjustment:

- If RVOL is higher than normal then lower risk will be used and if RVOL is very low then higher risk will be used for the trade

- If RVOL is extremely high the trade is skipped as there is increased risk that the large move was caused by a large event and it can continue as volume is still elevated

2.Auto Trend Filter and Loss Exit:

This is a strong trend filter which triggers if EA is in the trade sequence and there is continuous strong trend against the trade sequence. EA can stop averaging for a while and then take all skipped averaging trades when the strong move clearly slows down. If that happens EA will also exit the trade on the first sign of strength. This can lead to a close at the loss but also makes sure pullback in the trend is used to get out at somewhat advantageous moment. This feature can be configured with parameter \"Auto Trend Filter and Loss Exit Basket Size\" which sets the basket size where this mechanism will activate.

Low risk = 0.5

Medium risk = 1.0 (Default)

New Baskets allowed on Friday

Defines if new baskets can be started on Friday evening. Default is FALSE as this reduces over weekend risk

Extra Trade at added levels

If set to TRUE the EA will make additional trade at each averaging level to capture small scalp trade in addition to the averaging procedure. Enabling this increases slightly profitability and risk.

Max Drawdown allowing new Baskets

No trades are opened on new symbols if current balance to equity drawdown is more than this

Max Trade Loss % (SL, 0=OFF)

SL setup for each individual trade. If set each individual trade has SL set

Max Basket Loss % (0=OFF)

Drawdown level of one symbol basket where that particular basket will be closed at loss

Max Account Loss % (0=OFF)

Drawdown level of all DailyRebound EA trades where all EAs trades will be closed at loss

Auto Trend Filter and Loss Exit Basket Size

Basket Size (number or trades in the sequence) after which EA can start skipping levels in strong trend and also exit at loss if there is strong pullback in the trend.

Trade only the chart symbol

If set to TRUE the EA trades only the Symbol of the Chart to which it is attached to.

When first time backtesting this should be set to TRUE, have all Symbols in the MarketWatch and select Optimization \"All symbols selected in MarketWatch\". Then each Symbol is traded independently and MT5 will download all required data for the Symbols. When this is done once setting shall be set back to FALSE and then whole portfolio will be traded.

This is workaround to an issue in MT5 strategy analyzer. MT5 is not able to download automatically data for all the additional symbols in case of multi-symbol EA. For live trading this is not a problem and you shall leave this always to FALSE.

This is also useful for analyzing performance and impact of individual Symbols to the Portfolio

Input Parameters

General Time Inputs— It is different for currencies, It is determined using high level machine learning and AI. You can change them but recommended is let it be as set files.
Dynamic Lot— Lot Size will automatically get adjusted by Risk Percent For Dynamic Lot and optimum distance. (Make Dynamic Lot to True and Risk Percent to > 0 to use Dynamic Lot)
Fixed Lot— Fixed Lot Size will be used. (Make Dynamic Lot to False, Fix Lot to True and Risk Percent to 0 to use fix lot)
Display Settings— Whether to show the graphics to understand the dynamics of trades taken.
Advance Settings— Distance between Orders and profit percent you can leave them as they are in set files or change them according to your needs.
Draw Down Monitor Settings — Maximum Allowed Drawdown in a day.

🔶 SETTINGS

Pivot Lookback : Lookback period used for the calculation of pivot points.
Swing Area : Determine how the swing area is calculated, \"Wick Extremity\" will use the range from price high to the maximum between price close/open in case of a swing high, and the range from price low to the minimum between price close/open in case of a swing low. \"Full Range\" will use the full candle range as swing area.
Intrabar Precision : Use intrabar data to calculate the accumulated volume within a swing area, this allows obtaining more precise results.
Filter Areas By : Determine how swing areas are filtered out, \"Count\" will filter out swing areas where price visited the area a number of time inferior to the user set threshold. \"Volume\" will filter out swing areas where the accumulated volume within the area is inferior to the user set threshold.

🔹 Style

Swing High : Show swing highs.
Swing Low : Show swing lows.
Label Size : Size of the labels on the chart.

How it's work?

This expert is looking for a trendline or a horizontal line on the chart.

When the Price crosses above the Upper Trendline (Resistance), a buy order will be opened.

When the Price crosses below the Lower Trendline (Support), a sell order will be opened.

Notes :

Resistance is the upper or the highest trendline found in the chart.
Support is the lower trendline found in the chart.
If only one trendline is found, it is identified as both upper and lower trendline.
Remove any unnecessary trendlines and horizontal lines to prevent the expert from executing trades based on outdated lines.

<General Inputs>

Resistance Break : The Price crosses above the Upper Trendline (Resistance), a buy order will be opened.

Support Break : The Price crosses below the Lower Trendline (Support), a sell order will be opened.

Range Breakout : Price break the support or the resistance level (no need to activate this option).

Time Interval : Number of hours befor \"Time end\" to identifier High and Low of the range this is a sensitivity of the high and low algorithm for the first ansd second range (smaller value = less highs and lows, greater value = more highs and lows).

Time end : End of the time to identify the high and low values for the range.

Trail Stop : The Trailing Stop will be trailed in this set distance behind the current market price.

Trail Step : The SL will only be modified if it is at least this distance above the previous SL.

Daily Drawdown : Profit /Loss Today , if your account incurs a loss of $50, the expert will automatically disable trading until the following day.

Trade Size: Lot size for each trade if the fixed trading volume mode is chosen.

Max Open Trades : Maximum simultaneous open trades.

Time and Day Filter: Activates or deactivates the time filter which will be checked before new orders are placed.

The SuperTrend AI indicator is a novel take on bridging the gap between the K-means clustering machine learning method & technical indicators. In this case, we apply K-Means clustering to the famous SuperTrend indicator.

🔶 USAGE

Users can interpret the SuperTrend AI trailing stop similarly to the regular SuperTrend indicator. Using higher minimum/maximum factors will return longer-term signals. (image 1)

The displayed performance metrics displayed on each signal allow for a deeper interpretation of the indicator. Whereas higher values could indicate a higher potential for the market to be heading in the direction of the trend when compared to signals with lower values such as 1 or 0 potentially indicating retracements. (image 2)

In the image above, we can notice more clear examples of the performance metrics on signals indicating trends, however, these performance metrics cannot perform or predict every signal reliably. (image 3)

We can see in the image above that the trailing stop and its adaptive moving average can also act as support & resistance. Using higher values of the performance memory setting allows users to obtain a longer-term adaptive moving average of the returned trailing stop.

🔶 DETAILS

🔹 K-Means Clustering (image 4)

When observing data points within a specific space, we can sometimes observe that some are closer to each other, forming groups, or \"Clusters\". At first sight, identifying those clusters and finding their associated data points can seem easy but doing so mathematically can be more challenging. This is where cluster analysis comes into play, where we seek to group data points into various clusters such that data points within one cluster are closer to each other. This is a common branch of AI/machine learning.

Various methods exist to find clusters within data, with the one used in this script being K-Means Clustering, a simple iterative unsupervised clustering method that finds a user-set amount of clusters.

A naive form of the K-Means algorithm would perform the following steps in order to find K clusters:

(1) Determine the amount (K) of clusters to detect.
(2) Initiate our K centroids (cluster centers) with random values.
(3) Loop over the data points, and determine which is the closest centroid from each data point, then associate that data point with the centroid.
(4) Update centroids by taking the average of the data points associated with a specific centroid.
Repeat steps 3 to 4 until convergence, that is until the centroids no longer change.

To explain how K-Means works graphically let's take the example of a one-dimensional dataset (which is the dimension used in our script) with two apparent clusters: (image 5)

This is of course a simple scenario, as K will generally be higher, as well the amount of data points. Do note that this method can be very sensitive to the initialization of the centroids, this is why it is generally run multiple times, keeping the run returning the best centroids.

🔹 Adaptive SuperTrend Factor Using K-Means

The proposed indicator rationale is based on the following hypothesis:

Given multiple instances of an indicator using different settings, the optimal setting choice at time t is given by the best-performing instance with setting s(t).

Performing the calculation of the indicator using the best setting at time t would return an indicator whose characteristics adapt based on its performance. However, what if the setting of the best-performing instance and second best-performing instance of the indicator have a high degree of disparity without a high difference in performance?

Even though this specific case is rare its however not uncommon to see that performance can be similar for a group of specific settings (this could be observed in a parameter optimization heatmap), then filtering out desirable settings to only use the best-performing one can seem too strict. We can as such reformulate our first hypothesis:

Given multiple instances of an indicator using different settings, an optimal setting choice at time t is given by the average of the best-performing instances with settings s(t).

Finding this group of best-performing instances could be done using the previously described K-Means clustering method, assuming three groups of interest (K = 3) defined as worst performing, average performing, and best performing.

We first obtain an analog of performance P(t, factor) described as:

P(t, factor) = P(t-1, factor) + α * (∆C(t) × S(t-1, factor) - P(t-1, factor))

where 1 > α > 0, which is the performance memory determining the degree to which older inputs affect the current output. C(t) is the closing price, and S(t, factor) is the SuperTrend signal generating function with multiplicative factor factor.

We run this performance function for multiple factor settings and perform K-Means clustering on the multiple obtained performances to obtain the best-performing cluster. We initiate our centroids using quartiles of the obtained performances for faster centroids convergence. (image 6)

The average of the factors associated with the best-performing cluster is then used to obtain the final factor setting, which is used to compute the final SuperTrend output.

Do note that we give the liberty for the user to get the final factor from the best, average, or worst cluster for experimental purposes.

🔶 SETTINGS

ATR Length: ATR period used for the calculation of the SuperTrends.
Factor Range: Determine the minimum and maximum factor values for the calculation of the SuperTrends.
Step: Increments of the factor range.
Performance Memory: Determine the degree to which older inputs affect the current output, with higher values returning longer-term performance measurements.
From Cluster: Determine which cluster is used to obtain the final factor.

🔹 Optimization

This group of settings affects the runtime performances of the script.

Maximum Iteration Steps: Maximum number of iterations allowed for finding centroids. Excessively low values can return a better script load time but poor clustering.
Historical Bars Calculation (lookback): Calculation window of the script (in bars). Higher than 500 may cause slow performance. Tested at 300 for best result.
