Q3 revenue increased 9.9%, while nine-month revenue increased 6.6%. BPO revenue grew 11.2% in Q3 and 6.9% year to date; IT revenue grew 6.1% and 5.8%, respectively. Global Client revenue increased 12.9% in Q3 and 9.4% year to date, while GE revenue declined 0.6% and 2.6%, respectively. GE represented 19.9% of Q3 revenue and 20.7% of nine-month revenue.

Gross margin improved because of operating efficiencies and foreign-exchange effects, partly offset by wage inflation. Profitability declined because SG&A increased 30.9% in Q3 and 20.0% year to date, reflecting investments in client-facing personnel, subject-matter experts, sales and marketing, strategic initiatives, and higher wage costs. Foreign exchange results also shifted from gains in 2013 to losses in 2014.

  • There were no legal proceedings believed likely to have a material adverse effect, no defaults upon senior securities, and no material changes in market-risk exposure. Disclosure controls were deemed effective.

Most important facts for investors to verify

  • Whether Global Client growth can offset the expected decline in GE-related BPO revenue and reduce customer concentration.
  • Whether elevated SG&A investment converts into sustained revenue growth without further operating-margin compression.
  • The integration, performance contribution, and final purchase-price allocation of Pharmalink, including contingent earn-out exposure.
  • The resolution and cash impact of the approximately $43 million Indian tax assessment and related withheld refunds.
  • Liquidity and refinancing capacity given $165.0 million of short-term borrowings, the large 2019 term-loan maturity, and total contractual obligations of $1.26 billion.
  • Sensitivity of earnings, cash flow, and derivative valuations to foreign exchange movements, wage inflation, interest rates, and client demand.
