What to Expect From Valero Energy's Next Quarterly Earnings Report

San Antonio, Texas-based Valero Energy Corporation (VLO) manufactures, markets, and sells petroleum-based and low-carbon liquid transportation fuels and petrochemical products in the United States and internationally. The company has a market capitalization of $117 billion and operates through the Refining, Renewable Diesel, and Ethanol segments, and is expected to release its Q3 2026 earnings on Thursday, October 22, 2026, before the market opens.  

Ahead of this event, analysts anticipate the company will generate earnings of $18.09 per share, representing an increase of 394.3% from $3.66 per share reported in the same quarter last year. The company has surpassed the Street’s bottom-line estimates in each of the past four quarters.

For fiscal 2026, analysts expect the company to report an EPS of $49.17, indicating a 363.4% rise from $10.61 reported in fiscal 2025. However, its EPS is expected to fall nearly 12.1% year over year (YoY) to $43.21 in fiscal 2027.

Valero Energy shares have grown 146.7% over the past 52 weeks, outpacing the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 15% rise and also the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLE) 42.1% rise during the same time frame.

On July 30, VLO stock rose 3.5% following the release of its better-than-expected Q2 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the quarter amounted to $44.5 billion, surpassing the Street’s estimates. Moreover, its adjusted EPS came in at $12.54, also topping the consensus estimates. VLO expects its Q3 margins to be even better, on account of better feedstock costs, product pricing, and robust spending. 

VLO stock has also been uplifted by the macroeconomic scenario over the course of this year. Supply disruptions in the Middle East, creating strong gasoline and diesel demand, have also contributed to improving the company’s margins even further. 

Analysts’ consensus opinion on the stock is moderately bullish, with a “Moderate Buy” rating overall. Of the 21 analysts covering the stock, nine recommend a “Strong Buy,” one suggests a “Moderate Buy,” 10 rate it a “Hold,” and one recommends a “Strong Sell.” VLO’s average analyst price target is $365.60 and is below the current price level. Its Street-high price target of $457 offers a 12.5% upside.
