On July 28, SPGI stock declined 3.5% following the release of its mixed Q2 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 10.4% from the prior year’s quarter to $4.2 billion and marginally beat the Street’s forecasts. However, its adjusted EPS came in at $4.83, falling short of Wall Street’s estimates. Management also lowered its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $17.63, which contributed to the stock losing investor confidence.

For the current year, which ends in December, analysts expect SPGI’s EPS to fall marginally to $17.75 on a diluted basis. The company surpassed the consensus estimate in three of the last four quarters, while missing on one occasion.

Despite its underperformance, among 19 Wall Street analysts covering SPGI stock, the consensus is a “Strong Buy.” That’s based on 20 “Strong Buy” ratings, three “Moderate Buys,” two “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell.”

The configuration has grown more bearish over the past months, with the stock now having one “Strong Sell” rating, as compared to none recorded three months prior.

On July 8, BMO Capital analyst Jeffrey Silber maintained a “Buy” rating on S&P Global and set a price target of $505.

SPGI’s mean price target of $524.48 offers a 27.9% upside compared to the current market price. Its Street-high target of $640 implies a robust 56.1% upside from current levels.
