Dear Bloom Energy Stock Fans, Mark Your Calendars for September 21

Bloom Energy (BE) stock recently received a major, positive catalyst. S&P Global just announced that the firm would be added to the S&P 500 Index ($SPX) on Sept 21. This development will likely produce further, significant gains for shares of Bloom Energy, as many exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and hedge funds will look to buy BE stock as a result of its inclusion in the index.

Bloom Energy has many other highly favorable attributes, however, including its ability to provide power for data centers very quickly, utilizing either natural gas or clean energy. Moreover, the company has an extremely impressive roster of customers that is growing at a rapid pace. Finally, Bloom appears well-positioned to benefit from the swift expansion of data centers and the possible wide-scale utilization of hydrogen trucks in Europe in the coming years.

Bloom Energy's Rapid Deployments, Versatile Fuel Cells, and Huge Customers

Bloom Energy can reportedly provide power for data centers within 90 days. Importantly, Bloom's fuel cells can also be powered by natural gas, biogas, or green hydrogen. That means data-center operators can get their facilities up and running using natural gas at first, then switch to cleaner energy sources down the road when they become cheaper. For operators who have pledged to lower their carbon footprints several years down the road but are still urgently looking to open data centers in the next 12 months, Bloom's fuel cells are a compelling option.

The company's customer roster also includes many heavy hitters. Bloom has a customer list that includes data-center builders like Oracle (ORCL), Nebius (NBIS), and Equinix (EQIX), retail giants like Walmart (WMT) and Home Depot (HD), and other huge players such as Honda (HMC) and AT&T (T). The company's ability to recruit so many large customers indicates that its products are effective and worthwhile for many major firms.

Bloom Is Positioned to Benefit From Major Trends

In the second quarter of 2026, Bloom Energy grew revenue more than 165% year-over-year (YOY) to $1.065 billion. Meanwhile, operating income came in at $182.2 million versus an operating loss of $3.5 million in Q2 2025.

The demand for data centers is expanding very quickly in the U.S., but the country's electricity infrastructure can't keep up with this growth. Quartz reports that more than 2,060 gigawatts of capacity “were seeking connection to the U.S. grid” by the end of 2025, but "only 13% of the capacity that submitted interconnection requests from 2000 to 2019 […] reached commercial operations by the end of 2024.” Reportedly, 77% of those requests for data-center permits were withdrawn, while historical data points to it now taking more than four years to launch data centers. In this environment, the demand for Bloom Energy's fuel cells, which do not depend on the grid for power, should continue to soar going forward.

Meanwhile, Bloom has another potential catalyst for the long term: Europe appears to be moving toward introducing hydrogen-powered trucks on a major scale. Huge companies working on this goal include Daimler (DTRUY), Volvo (VLVLY), Toyota (TM), and Bosch. Since Bloom produces electrolyzers that make green hydrogen, the company may be positioned to benefit from the proliferation of transportation powered by this fuel.

Overall, BE stock represents a compelling choice given current market trends. Currently, Bloom Energy has a consensus “Moderate Buy” rating on Wall Street based on 26 analysts with coverage.
