EBAY Stock Jumps as Morgan Stanley Names eBay a 'Top Pick’

eBay (EBAY) stock is extending gains on Monday morning after Morgan Stanley named the online marketplace a “Top Pick,” citing its expanding live-commerce opportunity. EBAY shares have already been in a sharp uptrend in 2026, currently trading nearly 35% above their price at the start of this year.

Morgan Stanley’s Bullish View on eBay Stock

Feather estimates eBay’s live-commerce U.S. market to have expanded more than fivefold over the past two years to a whopping $27 billion. According to the analyst, that opportunity alone could drive up to 40% of the firm’s overall growth going forward. He went on to call live-commerce “the missing piece which explains the recent acceleration” in EBAY stock.

Even from a technical perspective, the Nasdaq-listed firm is worth owning heading into 2027. As of writing, it sits decisively above its major moving averages (MAs), with an RSI in the early 70s indicating significant buying pressure that could drive its share price higher in the months ahead.

eBay Live to Drive Share Price Higher

According to Feather, eBay Live alone could add about four percentage points to annual GMV growth through 2030, supporting growth substantially above consensus expectations. He increased his projected annual GMV growth rate through the end of this decade to 6.5%.

Morgan Stanley’s thesis also involved faster turnover of used goods; increasingly active resellers could help items change hands more frequently, lifting marketplace transaction volumes. For shareholders, the appeal is the prospect of a lasting improvement in eBay’s growth trajectory.

Note that eBay shares also currently pay a dividend yield of 1.06%, which makes them even more attractive as a long-term holding heading into 2027.

What’s the Consensus Rating on EBAY Shares?

Crucially, other Wall Street analysts also recommend owning EBAY shares for the long term.

According to Barchart, the consensus rating on eBay sits at “Moderate Buy” as of this writing, with price targets as high as $145 indicating potential upside of nearly 30% from here.
