Devon Energy reported its highest quarterly profit on Aug. 4, with Q2 2026 adjusted EPS of $1.57, beating the analyst estimate, and net income more than doubled year-over-year to $1.91 billion. Results benefited from the May completion of its $58 billion Coterra Energy acquisition, which lifted production to 1.36 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) and average realized oil prices climbed nearly 40% to $88.09 per barrel amid stronger global crude prices.

However, the company’s Q3 production outlook of 1.66 million boepd - 1.69 million boepd, oil output guidance of 550,000 barrels per day - 560,000 barrels per day, and capital spending forecast of $1.4 billion - $1.5 billion, along with the absence of an asset-sale announcement, could limit gains.

For the fiscal year ending in December 2026, analysts expect Devon Energy's adjusted EPS to grow 40.1% year-over-year to $5.49. The company's earnings surprise history is strong. It beat the consensus estimates in each of the last four quarters.

Among the 27 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Strong Buy.” That’s based on 24 “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” and two “Holds.”
