With a market capitalization of approximately $123.92 billion, Interactive Brokers has delivered a relatively steady performance on Wall Street, although its returns have varied across timeframes. Over the past year, the stock has gained 7%, modestly trailing the S&P 500 Index ($SPX), which has advanced 8.2%. However, the picture looks considerably brighter in 2026. IBKR shares have climbed 16.2% year-to-date, comfortably outperforming the broader market's 7.4% gain.

A comparison with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) also highlights Interactive Brokers' stronger recent momentum. While the financial sector ETF has gained 8.6% over the past year, its return in 2026 stands at just 4%, considerably below IBKR's double-digit advance. This suggests that the brokerage stock has gained ground on its financial sector peers this year, despite its relatively modest longer-term performance.

Interactive Brokers' strong performance in 2026 has been supported by a favorable trading environment and a series of company-specific growth drivers. Heightened market volatility has fueled trading activity across equities, options, and global futures markets, creating a favorable backdrop for the brokerage firm. However, the company's momentum extends beyond increased market activity.

Its low-cost business model, competitive margin rates, continuous platform enhancements, streamlined account-opening process, and highly efficient operating structure have helped attract new clients and strengthen its competitive positioning. At the same time, Interactive Brokers is expanding its market reach by introducing new products and capabilities aimed at deepening client engagement and capturing a larger share of customers' investment activity.

For the fiscal year ending in December, Wall Street expects Interactive Brokers to report diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.69, marking a 22.8% increase from the previous year. However, the company's earnings performance has not been entirely consistent. Over the past four quarters, IBKR has beaten or matched analysts' estimates on three occasions but missed expectations once.

Despite this mixed earnings track record, Wall Street remains firmly bullish on the stock, assigning Interactive Brokers a consensus “Strong Buy” rating. Of the 15 analysts covering the company, 11 recommend a “Strong Buy,” while the remaining four have a “Hold” rating. Notably, analyst sentiment has strengthened over the past month, with the number of “Strong Buy” recommendations rising from nine to 11, signaling growing confidence in the brokerage's prospects.

Rothschild & Co Redburn has trimmed its price target on Interactive Brokers Group to $92 from $94, reflecting a slightly more cautious outlook. However, broader Wall Street sentiment remains upbeat. The stock's average price target of $105.68 points to a potential upside of approximately 45.3% from current levels, while the Street-high target of $120 suggests an even more substantial gain of nearly 65%. This leaves considerable room for upside in analysts' projections despite the recent price target cut.
