Is ONDS Worth Buying as Hypergrowth Collides With M&A Execution Risk?

Ondas Inc ONDS is scaling at a pace rarely seen in defense technology. Second-quarter 2026 revenues reached $83.8 million, while pro forma organic revenues increased 85% year over year and pro forma backlog stood at $757 million.

That growth comes with a harder question. Rapid acquisitions have expanded the platform, but losses, cash burn and integration demands leave investors needing proof that scale can translate into durable profitability.

ONDS Revenue Growth Sets a High Bar

Management raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $525-$550 million, more than 10 times the $50.7 million reported in 2025. The midpoint also implies more than 30% year-over-year organic growth on a pro forma basis.

Third-quarter revenues are projected at $140-$155 million. The midpoint implies roughly 76% sequential growth, so backlog conversion and delivery execution must keep pace with a sharply larger operating base.

Ondas Valuation Sits Near Its Five-Year Median

ONDS trades at 4.9X forward 12-month sales, close to its five-year median of 5.1X. The current multiple is below the relevant Zacks sub-industry's 8.1X and the sector's 6.1X, but slightly above the S&P 500's 4.8X.

That leaves less room for a simple multiple-expansion thesis. The more important valuation issue is whether Ondas can convert acquisition-driven scale and backlog into higher gross profit and lower losses.

ONDS Profitability Targets Offer a Key Test

Management now targets adjusted EBITDA profitability for the operating platform, including Ondas Autonomous Systems and Ondas Sentinel, by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Company-wide adjusted EBITDA profitability is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027. Those milestones give investors a concrete timetable for judging operating leverage as acquired businesses move through integration and production expansion.

Ondas Balance Sheet Buys Time for Integration

Cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and short-term investments totaled about $1.4 billion as of June 30. Ondas then used roughly $325 million in the third quarter to complete the DZYNE and Cyberhawk acquisitions.

That liquidity provides room to fund integration and backlog conversion. AeroVironment, Inc. AVAV, another defense-technology peer, is also expanding across autonomous and counter-unmanned-aircraft capabilities, underscoring the scale of competition in multi-domain systems.

ONDS Faces Heavy Costs Before Scale Pays Off

Adjusted cash operating expenses were about $93 million in the second quarter, while adjusted EBITDA loss widened to $50.6 million. Operating cash outflow reached $137.4 million in the first half of 2026.

Adjusted gross margin was 50.4%, and management expects second-half pressure from product mix and excess capacity at recently acquired businesses. Red Cat Holdings, Inc. RCAT is likewise building an all-domain autonomous-systems portfolio, adding another relevant competitor as Ondas integrates its expanded platform.

ONDS Signals Argue for Patience Despite Hypergrowth

The bottom line is that ONDS has exceptional top-line momentum, but its investment case now depends on execution. Revenue growth alone does not resolve the risks tied to integration, margin pressure, cash burn and a still-distant company-wide profitability target.

ONDS currently carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). It also has a Value Score of F, Growth Score of F, VGM Score of F and Momentum Score of C. The Rank points to unfavorable near-term estimate-revision trends, while the weak Style Scores offer little support for a fresh entry despite the company's rapid expansion.
