Viavi Solutions Inc. VIAV has been selected by the U.S. Army’s Threat Systems Management Office, under Portfolio Acquisition Executive C2/CC2, to supply its T/Rx software-defined transceiver system for modernizing military test ranges. The system will create realistic electromagnetic environments to support the development and testing of drones, counter-drone systems and low-cost interceptors.
Viavi’s T/Rx platform combines electromagnetic spectrum monitoring, recording, analysis and transmission capabilities in a compact, rugged, field-deployable unit. It enables test operators to generate complex waveforms, frequency-agile signals and multi-signal scenarios that replicate the contested electromagnetic conditions found on modern battlefields.
The company’s technology was used at Camp Grayling to recreate electronic warfare conditions observed in Ukraine. Its advanced signal-generation capabilities help defense companies evaluate their systems under challenging conditions and identify areas for improvement.
As demand for advanced electronic warfare testing solutions grows, the agreement could strengthen Viavi’s position in the aerospace and defense market and create new growth opportunities for its testing and measurement business.

Viavi faces competition from ADTRAN Holdings, Inc. ADTN and Keysight Technologies, Inc. KEYS. ADTRAN is expanding its defense presence through its Oscilloquartz timing and synchronization solutions. These technologies support reliable communications and precise network coordination for mission-critical defense applications. ADTRAN is strengthening its U.S. aerospace, defense and government business through agreements with six sales representative firms to promote its solutions.
Keysight is expanding its defense business through advanced testing and simulation technologies. The company provides solutions that help defense organizations test electronic warfare systems, radar and military communications equipment. Keysight has secured a five-year contract with Leonardo UK to provide test equipment management, maintenance and calibration services for its aerospace and defense operations.
