Can Zenkuda's Multi-Indication Potential Drive KOD Stock Higher?

Kodiak Sciences KOD could unlock significant growth opportunities through Zenkuda (tarcocimab tedromer), its late-stage investigational therapy for retinal diseases. Positive phase III results across wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR) and retinal vein occlusion (RVO) strengthened its prospects. The planned multi-indication biologics license application in the fourth quarter of 2026 could be a key catalyst for KOD stock. However, regulatory uncertainty and intense competition remain important risks.

Zenkuda’s Clinical Progress Boosts KOD’s Growth Prospects

Zenkuda is being developed using Kodiak’s antibody biopolymer conjugate (ABC) technology, which is designed to provide sustained treatment effects and reduce the need for frequent injections.

Kodiak has reported positive phase III results from the GLOW1 and GLOW2 studies in diabetic retinopathy, the BEACON study in RVO and the DAYLIGHT and DAYBREAK studies in wet AMD, supporting its plans to seek regulatory approval.

Last month, the company announced positive data from the phase III DAYBREAK study in wet AMD, in which Zenkuda met its primary endpoint, delivering non-inferior vision gains compared with Regeneron’s REGN Eylea (aflibercept), an established therapy for the said indication. The treatment also demonstrated rapid disease control during the loading phase and sustained retinal drying. Notably, 54% of patients reached a six-month dosing interval at one year. These findings suggest that Zenkuda could offer a less burdensome treatment option if approved.

Kodiak’s GLOW1 and GLOW2 studies demonstrated Zenkuda’s potential in DR. In GLOW2, 62.5% of treated patients improved by at least two steps on the diabetic retinopathy severity score compared with 3.3% receiving sham treatment. The drug also reduced the risk of sight-threatening complications.

Efficacy was consistent among patients taking GLP-1 therapies and those not taking them. An important feature of the GLOW program was the potential for dosing every six months, which could further improve convenience and support long-term treatment adherence, strengthening Zenkuda’s commercial appeal.

In the phase III BEACON study, Zenkuda met its primary endpoint, demonstrating non-inferior vision gains compared with Eylea at week 24 in patients with macular edema due to RVO, with fewer injections. This result broadens the drug’s potential market and reinforces its durability-focused value proposition.

The planned application will include data from all five studies covering wet AMD, diabetic retinopathy and RVO. A successful regulatory filing would move the company closer to potential commercialization. Investors will likely monitor submission timing, FDA review progress and any additional regulatory requirements.

KOD’s Competition & Commercial Risks Remain

Despite its encouraging clinical results, Kodiak faces strong competition from established retinal treatments for the above-mentioned indications.

Regeneron’s Eylea and Eylea HD are key competitors, offering established treatment options for several retinal diseases. Zenkuda aims to differentiate itself from the products through the potential for longer intervals between injections, while maintaining comparable vision outcomes.Roche’s RHHBY Vabysmo (faricimab) is another major competitor, offering extended dosing for some patients. The drug is approved for wet AMD, diabetic macular edema and RVO.
