Balance sheet, debt and liquidity

  • Cash and cash equivalents were $718.3 at March 31, 2024, versus $713.7 at December 31, 2023. Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash totaled $719.9.
  • Accounts receivable was $337.4 and inventory was $69.8. Total assets were $1,831.3; stockholders’ equity was $945.5.
  • Long-term debt principal was $575.0, consisting of 2.625% convertible notes due December 2027. The notes’ carrying value was $575.0 and estimated fair value was $636.0. No borrowings were outstanding under the $350.0 revolving facility; the company reported compliance with its covenants.
  • Management said cash, expected operating cash generation and continued access to the revolver should meet requirements over the next 12 months and beyond. Access to the full revolver may be constrained by its covenants.

Material developments, outlook and risks

  • Perspective investment and agreements: Lantheus invested $78.3 in Perspective shares and held 19.90% of outstanding shares (17.35% fully diluted) after the March purchase. The investment was carried at $139.0 at quarter-end. A $28.0 upfront option payment was expensed as acquired in-process research and development. The company also transferred its Somerset facility assets and lease to Perspective for $8.0, recognizing a $6.3 gain.
  • Pipeline: PNT2002 met its SPLASH trial primary endpoint; interim overall-survival data remained immature. Lantheus expected the analysis at 75% of target events in Q3 2024. PNT2003’s ANDA was accepted for filing, but Novartis entities sued for patent infringement. A Hatch-Waxman stay could delay approval; the company said a full 30-month stay followed by successful approval could mean a 2026 launch.
  • Product and reimbursement risks: PYLARIFY faces growing competition. Its Medicare hospital outpatient transitional pass-through payment status could expire December 31, 2024; future reimbursement arrangements may affect adoption. Mo-99 supply and third-party manufacturing and distribution disruptions could also affect sales.
  • Other operating items: Sales and marketing, G&A and R&D expenses increased 39.6%, 105.8% and 57.3%, respectively. The increases reflected commercial investment, technology and personnel costs, and pipeline spending, including the Perspective option payment. Q1 2023 included $15.6 of AZEDRA-related R&D impairment, while Q1 2024 included the $28.0 Perspective charge.
  • Legal and contingent matters: The company disclosed the PNT2003 patent litigation and stated it had no other material ongoing litigation. It reported $2.7 of fair-value contingent consideration liabilities, while potential payments associated with a prior acquisition could total approximately $85.0, subject to milestones and other conditions.
  • Leadership: Brian Markison became CEO on March 1, 2024; former CEO Mary Anne Heino became Board Chair. The filing gave no numerical revenue or earnings guidance.
