How Is JPMorgan Chase's Stock Performance Compared to Other Diversified Bank Stocks

New York-based JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) operates as a bank and financial holding company in the United States, the rest of North America, and internationally. The company has a market cap of $941.6 billion and operates in three segments: Consumer & Community Banking, Commercial & Investment Bank, and Asset & Wealth Management, and offers deposit, investment, and lending products, and cash management, mortgage origination and servicing activities, and more.

Companies with a market cap of $200 billion or more are typically referred to as “mega-cap stocks.” JPM fits squarely into that category, with its market cap exceeding this threshold and reflecting its substantial size and influence in the diversified banks industry.

Despite that, the stock currently trades 3% below its 52-week high of $366.50,  recorded on Aug. 13. JPM has grown 19.8% over the past three months, outperforming the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLF13% rise during the same time frame.

In the longer term, JPM has delivered a similar performance. The stock has surged 18.1% over the past 52 weeks, outpacing the 7.6% rise of XLF over the same period. JPM has been trading above its 200-day and 50-day moving averages since June, showcasing bullish momentum.

One of JPM’s core strengths is its impressive dividend history. The company has been paying dividends to its shareholders for 29 years consecutively, while also having a 15-year history of consecutive dividend growth. It pays an annual dividend of $6, coming in at a yield of 1.7%, higher than SPY and its industry benchmark, XLF. This makes JPM an extremely lucrative option for income-focused investors.

When stacked against its rival, Bank of America Corporation (BAC) has surged 21.7% over the past year, rallying JPM.

Wall Street has a moderately optimistic view of the stock currently. Among the 44 analysts tracking JPM, the overall consensus stands at a “Moderate Buy.” Its mean price target of $372.35 is below the current price level. However, its Street-high price of $420 suggests 18% upside potential from current price levels.
