Shares of the Saxonburg, Pennsylvania-based company have declined 29.6% from its 52-week high of $440. The stock has decreased 21.7% over the past three months, lagging behind the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 1.6% gain over the same time frame.
COHR stock has surged 65.3% on a YTD basis, surpassing SPX’s 11.4% increase. In the longer term, shares of the company have climbed 182.4% over the past 52 weeks, compared to the 15% return of the SPX over the same time frame.
Yet, the stock has been trading below its 50-day moving average since late June.
Coherent has outperformed over the past year as surging demand for AI infrastructure has made its Datacenter & Communications business a major growth engine. Record backlogs, long-term supply agreements and strategic customer commitments have improved revenue visibility, while higher factory utilization and supply-chain efficiencies have strengthened profitability.
In comparison, rival Keysight Technologies, Inc. (KEYS) has lagged behind COHR stock. KEYS stock has soared 63.7% on a YTD basis and 87.7% over the past 52 weeks.
Due to the stock’s outperformance relative to the SPX over the past year, analysts remain strongly optimistic on COHR. The stock has a consensus rating of “Strong Buy” from the 23 analysts covering it, and the mean price target of $410.33 is a premium of 32.8% to current levels.
