What to Expect From LyondellBasell's Next Quarterly Earnings Report

LyondellBasell Industries N.V. (LYB), headquartered in Houston, Texas, operates as a chemical company. Valued at $19.8 billion by market cap, the company manufactures plastic, chemical, and fuel products. It offers products for the manufacturing of personal care products, fresh food packaging, lightweight plastics, construction materials, automotive, and more. The global leader in developing and supplying materials is expected to announce its fiscal third-quarter earnings for 2026 before the market opens on Friday, Oct. 30.

Ahead of the event, analysts expect LyondellBasell to report a profit of $2.70 per share on a diluted basis, up 167.3% from $1.01 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company beat the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing the forecast on another occasion.

LYB has beaten broader market returns on the back of rising chemical demand and tighter operational efficiency. Investor confidence also received a strategic boost from a major sustainability milestone: the rollout of eco-friendly packaging for Mondelez International, Inc’s (MDLZ) Marabou chocolate bars. Created alongside Amcor and Taghleef Industries, the initiative leverages LYB's recycled polymers, offering tangible proof that its circular plastics division and long-term chemical recycling roadmap are successfully moving from strategy to commercial execution.

Analysts’ consensus opinion on LYB stock is reasonably bullish, with a “Moderate Buy” rating overall. Out of 22 analysts covering the stock, six advise a “Strong Buy” rating, two suggest a “Moderate Buy,” 11 give a “Hold,” one advocates a “Moderate Sell,” and two recommend a “Strong Sell.” LYB’s average analyst price target is $68.19, indicating a potential upside of 11.5% from the current levels.
