Trimble Earnings Preview: What to Expect

Trimble Inc. (TRMB), with a market capitalization of approximately $14.5 billion, is a technology company that provides precision positioning, 3D modeling, and cloud-based software solutions. Based in Westminster, Colorado, the company helps businesses in the architecture, engineering, construction, geospatial, and transportation industries improve productivity, connect teams, streamline workflows, and make data-driven decisions throughout project lifecycles.

TRMB is set to report its Q3 earnings soon. Ahead of the release, analysts expect the company to report diluted EPS of $0.73, up 4.3% from $0.70 in the year-ago quarter. Additionally, TRMB has exceeded Wall Street’s EPS estimates in each of the past four quarters, demonstrating a consistent track record of earnings outperformance.

For fiscal 2026, analysts expect TRMB to report EPS of $3.10, up 17.9% from $2.63 in fiscal 2025. EPS is projected to grow another 12.9% year over year to $3.50 in fiscal 2027.

TRMB stock has plunged 21.4% over the past 52 weeks, underperforming both the S&P 500 Index ($SPX), which returned 15.2%, and the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which gained 30.8% over the same period.

Trimble’s underperformance reflects stagnant sales, slower earnings growth, and declining returns on invested capital (ROIC). Sales have stagnated over the past two years, while EPS grew by just 6% annually over the past five years, below the peer group average. Additionally, ROIC of 6.1% and declining returns suggest challenges in identifying attractive investment opportunities and an aging portfolio of established profit centers. Together, these factors point to weak growth and capital efficiency, helping explain the stock’s underperformance relative to the broader market.

Despite that, analysts remain bullish on TRMB, with the stock carrying a consensus “Strong Buy” rating. Of the 12 analysts covering the stock, 10 recommend a “Strong Buy,” while the remaining two recommend a “Hold.” Meanwhile, the average price target of $76.90 implies potential upside of 22.9% from the current share price.
