Here's How QBTS Deepens Quantum Push With Funding and New Deals

D-Wave Quantum QBTS is expanding its quantum computing initiatives through government funding, commercial deployments and collaborations with major organizations.

The company executed a definitive agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce based on its previously announced Letter of Intent, providing access to up to $100 million in funding under the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act. This funding is expected to accelerate R&D for the development and scaling of D-Wave’s annealing and gate-model quantum systems.

NTT DOCOMO, Japan’s largest mobile operator, announced the deployment of a second D-Wave-powered quantum computing application in production. The new application reduced location-registration signals generated when devices crossed tracking-area-list (TA-List) boundaries by 65.3% at the daily peak and reduced paging signals by 7.0%. This helped reduce network signaling load and improve operational efficiency.D-Wave also has been awarded up to CAD $300,000 in funding from the National Research Council of Canada's (“NRC”) Applied Quantum Computing Challenge program to advance annealing quantum computing software for commercial applications.

D-Wave and AT&T T announced an agreement under which AT&T will expand its use of D-Wave’s quantum computing technology. AT&T plans to apply the technology to address complex optimization challenges across its network operations.

Rigetti RGTI plans to partner with HPE and Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (“PSC”) to build the TangleLab supercomputing testbed. Rigetti will deliver a 9-qubit Novera quantum computing system to the new Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center testbed, which is being funded by a $5 million National Science Foundation grant. This builds on Rigetti’s existing strategic collaboration with HPE to commercialize quantum-enabled high-performance computing systems.

Quantum Computing QUBT has signed a three-year framework agreement with Hamad Bin Khalifa University ("HBKU") in Qatar to collaborate on quantum computing, quantum sensing and quantum communications. Quantum Computing will provide on-cloud Dirac-3 system access to HBKU, as well as installation in Qatar to support the quantum ecosystem and leadership in the region.
