Material changes versus the prior comparable period
- Growth was strongest in Gaming (+75%), Video Collaboration (+65%), Tablet & Other Accessories (+40%) and PC Webcams (+16%). ASTRO contributed five percentage points to sales growth.
- Mobile Speakers and Smart Home sales each declined 45%, reflecting weaker speaker and Harmony remote sales.
- Sales grew across all regions: Americas +13%, EMEA +7% and Asia Pacific +28%; constant-currency growth was 13%, 1% and 23%, respectively.
- Operating expenses included $9.9 million of restructuring charges, compared with a $0.1 million net credit in the prior-year quarter. Share-based compensation expense increased to $13.3 million from $10.7 million.

Outlook, commentary, risks and unusual items
- The filing gives no numerical revenue or earnings guidance. Management stated it expects cash, projected operating cash flows and available borrowings to be sufficient for at least the next 12 months.
- The restructuring plan is expected to result in total fiscal 2019 pre-tax charges of approximately $10 million to $15 million, principally severance and other personnel costs.
- After quarter-end, Logitech agreed to acquire Blue Microphones for approximately $117 million in cash, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions; closing was expected in late August 2018.
- Logitech adopted Topic 606 on April 1, 2018. Adoption reduced opening retained earnings by $10.9 million and changed the presentation of certain customer-program and return reserves. The reported-quarter sales effect was small; prior-year results were not restated. The filing says adoption did not affect total cash flows.
- Key risks include uncertain consumer demand and product-launch execution, intense competition and pricing pressure, currency movements, tariffs and trade-policy changes, reliance on third-party channels and suppliers, and manufacturing concentration in China and Southeast Asia. Mobile-speaker market growth was described as slowing.
- Logitech reported several ordinary-course claims and a small number of legal proceedings, which it believes lack merit and does not expect to have a material adverse effect based on information available; outcomes remain uncertain. Unrecognized tax benefits were $68.5 million, and the company noted possible significant changes as tax laws, audits and currency conditions evolve.
- Management reported effective disclosure controls at the reasonable-assurance level. The filing also notes prior material weaknesses in internal control over financial reporting, including customer-program accruals; controls were changed in connection with Topic 606 adoption.
Most important facts for investors to verify
- Whether growth in Gaming and Video Collaboration can offset continued weakness in Mobile Speakers and Smart Home, and how much growth reflects acquisitions or currency.
- Whether gross-margin improvement persists after the one-time settlement benefit and amid supply-chain costs, tariffs and competitive pricing.
- Whether receivables and customer-program reserves normalize: Topic 606 reclassifications affected balance-sheet presentation, while reported DSO rose to 57 days from 38 days.
- The final restructuring cost and whether expected organizational changes deliver savings without disrupting product development or execution.
- Blue Microphones’ closing, purchase funding and subsequent integration, along with cash allocation for dividends and the remaining $209.9 million share-buyback authorization.
- Developments in uncertain tax positions, pending legal matters, and remediation of previously identified internal-control weaknesses.
