With a market cap of $6.2 billion, The Trade Desk, Inc. (TTD) is a technology company that operates in the United States and internationally, specializing in digital advertising solutions. It enables advertisers and agencies to create, manage, and optimize data-driven campaigns across multiple formats such as connected TV (CTV), video, display, audio, and native ads on various devices. 

Shares of the Ventura, California-based company have lagged behind the broader market over the past 52 weeks. TTD stock has decreased 74.8% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPXhas returned 18.4%. In addition, shares of the company are down 64.7% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX’s 11.8% increase.

Moreover, shares of the adtech company have underperformed the State Street Communication Services Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLCmarginal gain over the past 52 weeks.

The Trade Desk shares tumbled 21.9% following its Q2 2026 results on Aug. 6. The company reported weaker-than-expected revenue of $715 million and adjusted EPS of $0.34. Profitability also weakened sharply, with net income declining to $64 million and adjusted EBITDA falling to $241 million, pushing the adjusted EBITDA margin down to 34%. The weaker outlook added pressure, as TTD guided for Q3 revenue of at least $650 million and adjusted EBITDA of about $160 million, while management acknowledged that Q2 performance did not meet its standard and cited a complex environment for marketers.

For the fiscal year ending in December 2026, analysts expect Trade Desk's EPS to decline 43.3% year-over-year to $0.51. The company's earnings surprise history is mixed. It beat the consensus estimates in one of the last four quarters while missing on three other occasions.

Among the 38 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Hold.” That’s based on three “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” 26 “Holds,” one “Moderate Sell,” and seven “Strong Sells.”

This configuration is less bullish than three months ago, with 11 “Strong Buy” ratings on the stock.

On Aug. 7, Needham lowered its price target for The Trade Desk to $19 while maintaining a “Buy” rating.

The mean price target of $15.05 represents a 12.6% premium to TTD’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $40 suggests a 199.2% potential upside.
