Cotton Falls on Thursday with Slow Export Business

Cotton futures posted losses across the board on Thursday, with contracts down 179 to 219 contracts in the front months. Crude oil was back down $1.34 per barrel on the session, with the US dollar index down $0.024. 

Export Sales from this week showed a total of just 71,231 RB in 2026/27 sales in the week of 9/10. Vietnam was the top buyer of 28,200 RB, with 14,000 RB to Guatemala. New crop 2027/28 sales came in at 6,160 RB. Shipments totaled 142,078 RB in that week, which was 17.91% above the same week last year. The top destination was Vietnam at 44,600 RB, with 24,700 RB to Vietnam.

The Seam reported an average sale price of 75.22 cents in Wednesday’s sale, of 300 bales. The Cotlook A index was down 5 points on 9/16 at 94.60. ICE certified cotton stocks were down 1,313 bales on September 16, with the certified stocks level at 36,617 bales. The Adjusted World Price was back down 59 points on Thursday to 68.92 cents/lb.

Dec 26 Cotton  closed at 82.17, down 219 points,

Mar 27 Cotton  closed at 84.81, down 208 points
