Venture Global Stock Just Secured a Data Center Win. How to Play It Here.

LNG producer Venture Global (VG) recently entered into a partnership with GE Vernova (GEV) and Baker Hughes Company (BKR) to develop up to 16 new 720 MW power island units and associated power transformer equipment, which will be used to supply electricity to data centers. The agreements will support further expansion of Venture Global’s LNG operations and create a route to eventually supply as much as 10 GW of additional computing capacity at the sites it controls.

The facilities would operate in “island mode,” meaning they would not need to depend on the public electric grid. The company already operates about 4.5 GW of modular gas-fired generation for its LNG plants, while this new plan extends those capabilities to cover nearby data centers, where electricity might be a constraint.

Venture Global plans to place equipment orders by year-end for the initial phase of its on-site data center power generation, with electricity potentially available from late 2028 or early 2029. This implies that instead of selling only LNG, it could lease or sell power and data center capacity to hyperscalers, AI companies, or other large computing customers.

Now, let's take a closer look at Venture Global.

About Venture Global Stock

Venture Global is a U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer and exporter headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. The company builds and operates LNG export facilities, mainly along Louisiana’s Gulf Coast. It has a market capitalization of $31.25 billion.

Its business includes producing LNG, shipping it to overseas customers, and selling it to buyers in Europe, Asia, and other markets. Venture Global’s key facilities include Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines, and the planned CP2 project. The company also works on carbon capture projects to reduce emissions from its operations.

Venture Global shares have risen 42% over the past 52 weeks on higher LNG sales from the Plaquemines ramp-up, stronger pricing, progress at CP2, new long-term contracts, and expectations that its power-generation expansion could serve AI data center demand.

However, VG stock has also dropped 10% over the past month, mainly due to a broader risk-off selloff in AI-linked energy stocks and concerns over debt-funded data center spending. It reached a 52-week high of $17.62 on March 24, but is down 28% from that level.

Venture Global is trading at a lower valuation than its peers. Its forward-adjusted price-to-earnings (non-GAAP) ratio of 7.15x is lower than the industry average of 12.13x.

Q2 Results Show Continued LNG Growth

Venture Global reported continued growth in LNG volume sold in the second quarter, rising from 329.2 TBtu to 466.4 TBtu, up 42% year-over-year (YoY). The company also highlighted major scheduled maintenance on the gas turbines at its Calcasieu Pass facility, the final stages of construction, commissioning, and assurance testing required before COD of its Plaquemines Project Phase 1, and ongoing construction at its CP2 Project.

Venture Global’s total revenue increased 48% YoY to $4.58 billion, higher than the $4.50 billion Wall Street analysts expected. The company’s net income jumped by a whopping 266% from the prior-year period to $1.35 billion. Its EPS increased from $0.14 to $0.51 over the same period, surpassing the $0.49 that Street analysts had expected.

Wall Street analysts have a mixed view about Venture Global’s bottom-line trajectory. For fiscal 2026, its earnings per share are expected to grow 103.5% YoY to $1.75. However, EPS for fiscal 2027 is projected to decrease by 25.1% annually to $1.31. For the third quarter (to be reported on Nov. 10, before the market opens), EPS is expected to climb 243.8% YoY to $0.55.

What Do Analysts Think About VG Stock?

This month, Praneeth Satish from Wells Fargo maintained a “Hold” rating on VG stock and a $15 price target. Analysts at Mizuho maintained a “Neutral” rating in July, while raising the price target from $13 to $15. The higher price target reflects increased estimates and Venture Global’s exposure to robust near-term LNG markets.

Venture Global is finding favor on Wall Street, with analysts awarding it a consensus “Moderate Buy” rating. Of the 17 analysts rating VG stock, seven analysts have rated it a “Strong Buy,” three analysts suggest a “Moderate Buy,” while seven analysts are playing it safe with a “Hold” rating. The consensus price target of $16.89 represents a 34% upside from current levels. The Street-high price target of $22 indicates a 74% upside.
