Lowe's Earnings Preview: What to Expect

With a market cap. of $111.2 billion, Lowe's Companies, Inc. (LOW)  is a home improvement retailer, employing approximately 300,000 associates and operating over 1,750 stores, 540 branches, and 120 distribution centers. The company supports communities through affordable housing initiatives, community improvement, skilled-trade development, and disaster relief.

The Mooresville, North Carolina-based company is expected to announce its fiscal Q3 2026  results before the market opens on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Ahead of this event, analysts expect LOW to report an adjusted EPS of $2.86, down 6.5% from $3.06 in the year-ago quarter. However, it has surpassed Wall Street's earnings estimates in each of the last four quarters.

For fiscal 2026, analysts project the home improvement retailer to post an adjusted EPS of $12.25, a marginal decline from $12.29 in fiscal 2025. Nevertheless, adjusted EPS is anticipated to grow 6.1% year-over-year to $13 in fiscal 2027.

Lowe's shares have dropped 18.9% over the past 52 weeks, underperforming both the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 12.3% rise and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLY) 4.3% decline over the period.

Lowe’s shares rose over 2% on Aug. 19 after the company reported better-than-expected Q2 2026 results, with EPS of $4.27 and gross margin of $8.58 billion, supported by resilient home-repair and maintenance demand. Contractor-driven sales and spending on essential home upkeep helped offset weakness in large do-it-yourself remodeling projects as cautious consumers limited discretionary purchases, although revenue of $25.96 billion missed the estimate. Despite lowering its full-year comparable-sales outlook from flat-to-2% growth to no growth, shares gained as investors welcomed the earnings beat and anticipated that lower mortgage rates could support a recovery in housing activity and home-improvement demand.

Analysts' consensus view on LOW stock is cautiously optimistic, with an overall "Moderate Buy" rating. Among 30 analysts covering the stock, 20 recommend "Strong Buy," one suggests "Moderate Buy," eight indicate “Hold,” and one gives "Strong Sell." This configuration is slightly more bullish than three months ago, with 19 analysts suggesting a "Strong Buy."

The average analyst price target is $251.06, suggesting a potential upside of 26.7% from current levels.
