Quantum Computing Inc. QUBT or QCi completed the acquisition of NHanced Semiconductors, Inc., a U.S.-based advanced packaging foundry, for a combination of cash and QCi stock valued at $73.1 million, and up to an additional $72.0 million if certain performance targets are achieved. The acquisition of NHanced Semiconductors strengthens its long-term growth prospects by accelerating the launch of Fab 2 and expanding its advanced packaging, semiconductor manufacturing and photonic integration capabilities.
QCi announced the completion of its acquisition of NuCrypt, LLC, a quantum communications technology company, in a $5 million transaction to be paid through a combination of cash and QCi common stock. NuCrypt’s patent portfolio spans quantum optics, RF-photonics and photonic signal processing, strengthening QCi’s intellectual property position and technology depth. Over the long term, these capabilities could expand the company’s opportunities in secure communications and advanced computing applications and support broader commercialization of its technology portfolio.
These developments are expected to act as a tailwind for QCi’s long-term growth prospects.
Peer Update
Rigetti RGTI signed a letter of intent with the U.S. Department of Commerce for an award of up to $100 million in funding over three years to accelerate superconducting quantum computing R&D. Rigetti continues to target a path toward systems with approximately 1,000 qubits, 99.9% two-qubit gate fidelity, and gate speeds below 50 nanoseconds over roughly a three-year time horizon. To support this roadmap, the company has continued investing in dilution refrigeration capacity and related infrastructure designed to accommodate higher-qubit-count systems.
IonQ IONQ successfully closed the SkyWater and Nexus acquisitions, which extended IonQ’s full-stack quantum platform and merchant supplier leadership to the United States and allied ecosystem. IonQ also made significant strides toward demonstrating its 256-qubit quantum computer and publishing results on its quantum error-correction technology. These developments are expected to serve as a tailwind for IonQ’s long-term growth prospects.
