Vertiv's Product Revenue Accelerates: Can It Outpace APH & SMCI?

Vertiv VRT is benefiting from surging demand for power, thermal and integrated infrastructure solutions as hyperscalers and data-center operators expand AI capacity. In the second quarter of 2026, product revenues rose 22% year over year to $2.65 billion, accounting for about 81% of total sales, while total revenues rose 24% to $3.27 billion, underscoring the scale of Vertiv’s product portfolio. This momentum strengthens Vertiv’s position against Amphenol APH and Super Micro Computer SMCI as AI infrastructure spending expands across hyperscalers, colocation providers and enterprises.

Strong demand across regions has been a key catalyst. Americas sales increased 29% to $2.07 billion, while APAC rose 29% to $720 million and EMEA returned to 2% reported growth. OneCore and SmartRun address larger, more coordinated deployments that can shorten construction timelines and reduce on-site complexity.

Vertiv’s growth prospects are supported by capacity expansion and a broadening product portfolio. The company is adding capacity across the Americas, Malaysia, and EMEA while investing in advanced thermal systems, next-generation power architectures and converged infrastructure. Its 800-volt DC roadmap, liquid-cooling products and end-to-end powertrain offerings should expand Vertiv’s content opportunity per megawatt as AI computing density rises. Management noted that pipelines are expanding across regions and customer categories.

With its broad product portfolio, expanding global footprint and deep customer relationships, Vertiv is well-positioned to maintain its growth trajectory and potentially strengthen its competitive position against Amphenol and Super Micro Computer as AI data-center spending expands. For the third quarter of 2026, management expects $3.65-$3.85 billion in sales and 34%-36% organic growth, including high-30s organic growth in the Americas and APAC and mid-teens growth in EMEA.

VRT Suffers From Stiff Competition

Vertiv’s AI infrastructure solutions are facing increasing competition from Super Micro Computer and Amphenol. Both companies are expanding their offerings to support high-density, AI-driven data center deployments.

Super Micro Computer’s expanding portfolio has been noteworthy.  In July 2026, SuperMicro Computer expanded the DCBBS liquid-cooling portfolio with 10 rear-door heat exchangers that support high-density AI and HPC systems and offer flexible cooling capacities for new and legacy data centers.

Amphenol is benefiting from the surge in demand for AI infrastructure, which has become a transformative force for the company’s growth and market positioning. In the second quarter of 2026, IT datacom represented about 43% of sales and grew 63% organically year over year. This robust performance was driven by accelerating investments in AI data centers and Amphenol’s ability to capture a significant share of this unique interconnect opportunity.
