Are Wall Street Analysts Predicting IDEXX Laboratories Stock Will Climb or Sink?

Westbrook, Maine-based IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (IDXX) is a global leader in animal health diagnostics, providing the tools and technology veterinarians rely on to diagnose and monitor pets and livestock. Valued at a market capitalization of $50.7 billion, the company operates through Companion Animal Group, Water Quality Products, and Livestock, Poultry and Dairy segments.

While the broader market has been running ahead, IDEXX has been left chasing its tail. IDXX stock has declined 14.2% over the past 52 weeks and declined 18.7% on a YTD basis. In comparison, the S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has returned 18.7% over the past year and grown 12.2% in 2026.

And the gap is even wider against healthcare stocks. The State Street Healthcare Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLVhas soared 28.7% over the past 52 weeks and 13.2% in 2026, leaving IDXX trailing the sector by a wide margin.

IDEXX shares jumped 4% after the company reported its Q2 2026 earnings. Revenue rose 9.7% year over year to $1.22 billion, or 9% organically, while EPS increased 15.3% from the year-ago quarter to $4.07 on a comparable basis. Strong cash generation continued as well, with $323 million in free cash flow, up 112.7% year over year. Encouraged by the strong performance, IDEXX raised its full-year 2026 outlook, projecting revenue of $4.70 billion to $4.75 billion and EPS of $14.69 to $14.94. 

For the current year ending in December 2026, analysts expect IDEXX's EPS to grow 13.2% YoY to $14.81 on a diluted basis. The company’s earnings surprise history is strong. It surpassed the consensus estimate in each of the last four quarters.

Among the 15 analysts covering IDXX stock, the consensus is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on eight “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” and six “Holds.”

On Aug. 11, Barclays analyst Glen Santangelo reiterated a “Buy” rating on IDEXX Laboratories and set a $710 price target, signaling continued confidence in the company’s growth outlook.

The mean price target of $718.14 indicates a 30.6% premium to IDXX’s current price levels. Its Street-high target of $823 suggests a 49.6% potential upside.
