Workday’s stock performance has been volatile but increasingly constructive, with a sharp rebound in recent months. WDAY shares reached their 52-week high of $249.85 on Sept. 29, 2025, and are currently trading 23.2% below the peak. However, the stock has staged a strong comeback, surging 64.1% over the past three months, comfortably outpacing the State Street SPDR S&P Software & Services ETF (XSW), which has surged 24.1% over the same time frame.

The longer-term picture remains weaker. WDAY is down 17.9% over the past 52 weeks and 10.6% year to date, while the ETF has posted a marginal decline over the past year and gained 7.8% in 2026.

Still, recent momentum has improved considerably, with shares trading above both their 50-day and 200-day moving averages since late July and early August, respectively, indicating the stock has shifted into an upward technical trend.

On Aug. 27, Workday delivered a strong FY2027 Q2, with results that topped Wall Street expectations and sent shares 1.5% higher on the day and 5.8% in the following trading session. The quarter underscored two key growth engines for the company: durable subscription demand and rapidly expanding AI adoption. Revenue rose 12.8% year over year to $2.65 billion, powered by a 13.9% increase in subscription revenue to $2.47 billion. With subscriptions now generating roughly 93% of total revenue, Future revenue visibility remained robust, with 12-month subscription revenue backlog rising 14.2% to $9.03 billion and total subscription backlog increasing 8% to $27.40 billion. Profitability also moved higher, with non-GAAP EPS climbing 24.4% year over year to $2.75.

Perhaps the most notable development was AI moving deeper into Workday's growth strategy. During the quarter, the company expanded its AI portfolio with offerings including Developer Agent, Agent Passport, Adaptive Decision Intelligence, and Financial Audit Agent, reinforcing its push to embed AI-driven automation across its enterprise platform.

Workday has underperformed Atlassian Corporation (TEAM), its top rival, which has declined 15.8% over the past 52 weeks and 20.7% in 2026.

Wall Street analysts are moderately bullish on Workday’s stock. The stock has a consensus rating of “Moderate Buy” from the 43 analysts covering it. The mean price target of $211.92 implies a 10.4% upside from current levels.
