Ahead of Coca-Cola Earnings, Here's What Barchart Data Says Comes Next for KO Stock

Coca-Cola (KO) stock has inched lower ahead of the company’s Q3 earnings on Oct. 27, but the derivatives market isn’t particularly convinced that a near-term rally is likely. Consensus is for the beverage giant to report $0.87 in earnings per share (EPS) for its third financial quarter, which would represent about a 6.1% increase from last year.

Despite recent weakness, Coca-Cola shares have been a blockbuster investment in 2026, currently up about 35% versus the start of this year.

Where Options Data Suggests Coca-Cola Stock Is Headed

Options traders are not aggressively betting on an immediate post-earnings surge in KO shares. According to Barchart, the put-to-call ratio on contracts expiring Oct. 30 sits at 0.99x currently. A reading below 1.00x is typically characterized as bullish, which makes the current sentiment neutral at best.

That said, the upper price on those options contracts sits at $95.32 as of writing, signaling potential for a 2.81% rally through the end of this week.

Beyond the near-term derivatives data, however, Coca-Cola is worth owning for a healthy 2.29% dividend yield, especially for investors seeking reliable income for the long term.

What Else Warrants Caution in Playing KO Shares

Coca-Cola’s regional performance offers another reason to temper expectations ahead of earnings. In fiscal Q2, Asia Pacific unit case volume rose 8%, but price/mix fell 9%, reflecting affordability initiatives and an unfavorable sales mix.

Comparable “currency-neutral” operating profit was flat, demonstrating that stronger demand does not automatically translate into earnings growth.

Meanwhile, the same profit measure declined about 5% across Europe, the Middle East and Africa as marketing and operating expenses increased. These figures suggest investors should scrutinize the profitability behind headline sales growth.

Another quarter of rising volumes could prove insufficient to lift KO shares if discounts, product mix or spending prevent that growth from reaching the bottom line.

What’s the Consensus Rating on Coca-Cola?

Wall Street analysts also believe that much of the upside is already baked into KO stock at current levels.

While the consensus rating on Coca-Cola remains “Strong Buy,” the mean price target of roughly $96 suggests potential upside of just 4% from current levels.
