Ralph Lauren Corporation RL continues to invest in artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics and technology to enhance customer engagement, improve digital shopping experiences and strengthen its presence across emerging AI platforms. The company highlighted improvements to user experiences across its digital commerce sites and expanded brand visibility across key large language models (LLMs). The company is also participating in select AI tests to better understand evolving consumer behavior on these platforms.
These initiatives align with Ralph Lauren’s broader strategy to strengthen its consumer ecosystem through physical stores, digital commerce and targeted expansion in key cities. The retailer reported mid-teens growth in total digital ecosystem sales, including its own websites and wholesale digital accounts, with contributions from all regions. Global direct-to-consumer comparable sales increased 12%, supported by both stores and digital commerce.
North America’s digital comparable sales rose 8%, aided by solid traffic trends, merchandising optimization and full-funnel marketing investments. In Asia, digital ecosystem sales increased double digits, supported by strong contributions from Ralph Lauren’s digital commerce sites and pure-play online retailers. The company also expanded its RL mobile app to Korea, marking its first market outside North America, with early performance exceeding management’s expectations.
Ralph Lauren’s broader consumer engagement efforts also include brand-building initiatives, customer recruitment and an expanding social media audience. The company added 1.5 million new customers to its direct-to-consumer businesses during the quarter, led by its stores and digital commerce sites. Meanwhile, its social media following increased by high single digits to more than 70 million, led by Instagram, LINE, Douyin and TikTok.
Ralph Lauren’s expanding digital presence reflects its focus on engaging consumers across multiple channels while reinforcing brand desirability. Its investments in AI, analytics and digital experiences aim to enhance customer engagement, while greater visibility across LLMs offers another opportunity to connect with consumers. However, management did not disclose specific traffic, conversion or sales metrics attributable to its expanded visibility across LLMs. Nevertheless, improved digital shopping experiences, broader LLM presence and ongoing AI experimentation underscore the company’s efforts to explore new avenues for consumer engagement across digital platforms.
How AI Is Reshaping Digital Shopping at LEVI and GAP
Beyond RL, other apparel retailers, including LEVI and GAP, are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen their digital capabilities, personalize shopping experiences and enhance customer engagement. These investments highlight AI's growing role in reshaping digital commerce across the apparel industry.
Levi Strauss & Co. LEVI is strengthening its digital capabilities through AI-powered shopping innovations and personalized customer experiences. LEVI recently launched an AI shopping assistant in the United States that provides styling advice, helps shoppers discover new styles, and helps them create complete outfits. Early results indicate that customers who engage with the tool add products to their shopping bags at about three times the average rate.
LEVI is also advancing a comprehensive redesign of levi.com, with plans to introduce personalized shopping experiences and dynamic outfit recommendations. These initiatives support its broader direct-to-consumer strategy and efforts to improve digital engagement.
Gap Inc. GAP is advancing its technology capabilities, including investments in AI, as part of its broader business transformation strategy. GAP is developing its technology platforms to deepen customer engagement, strengthen its brands and enhance operational capabilities. GAP highlighted ongoing AI-related technology investments alongside initiatives involving store openings, remodels and supply chain improvements.
The company expects capital expenditures of approximately $650 million in fiscal 2026, primarily supporting these broader investment priorities. These efforts underscore Gap's commitment to strengthening its technology infrastructure and building capabilities to support long-term business growth.
