Smart Money Concepts (SMC) / Inner Circle Trader (ICT) Methodology

Overview

This indicator combines three institutional trading concepts into a single chart overlay for MetaTrader 5. It identifies where institutions sweep liquidity at key structural levels, detects the displacement (Fair Value Gap) that follows, and maps the support and resistance zones where these events occur. The result is a high-probability reversal framework that automates the core ICT/SMC workflow directly on your chart.

The indicator recalculates on each new bar and performs real-time alert checks on every tick. All chart objects are drawn in the background layer so they do not interfere with normal price action reading.

How the Strategy Works

Step 1: Identify HTF Liquidity Sweep. The indicator scans the higher timeframe (controlled by InpHTFTimeframe) for swing highs and swing lows using a 2-bar pivot method across InpSweepLookback bars. When a candle wicks beyond a swing point but closes back inside it, and the wick exceeds InpSweepMinWick points, it is flagged as a BSL (buy-side liquidity) or SSL (sell-side liquidity) sweep.

Step 2: Wait for FVG Displacement. After the sweep, the indicator looks for a strong 3-candle imbalance pattern on the current chart timeframe within InpFVGLookback bars. A bullish FVG exists when candle[i].low is above candle[i-2].high; a bearish FVG when candle[i-2].low is above candle[i].high. The gap must exceed InpMinFVGSize points (or 5 points if set to auto). If the FVG forms within 4 hours of a sweep, it is marked High Probability and highlighted in InpHighProbFVGColor.

Step 3: Entry on Retest at SNR. The indicator draws multi-timeframe support and resistance levels (D1, H4, H1) using swing pivots detected over InpSNRLookback bars. A limit order is placed at the FVG edge where it aligns with an SNR level. Stop-loss goes beyond the sweep wick; take-profit targets the opposing HTF liquidity.

Module 1: Support & Resistance (SNR)

The SNR module detects swing pivot highs and lows across three timeframes: Daily, 4-Hour, and 1-Hour. A swing high requires the bar's high to exceed the two bars on either side; a swing low requires the bar's low to be below both neighbours. Levels within InpSNRMergePips points of each other are merged to reduce clutter. Each level tracks how many times price has touched it; levels with more than two touches are marked \"unfresh\" and drawn in InpUnfreshColor (gray). Per-timeframe colour coding makes it easy to distinguish Daily resistance (dark red) from H1 support (midnight blue) at a glance.

Module 2: Fair Value Gaps (FVG)

The FVG module scans the current chart for 3-candle imbalance patterns that signal strong institutional displacement. A bullish FVG is the gap between candle[i-2] high and candle[i] low when the middle candle closes strongly bullish (body > 40% of range). A bearish FVG is the mirror image. Each zone is drawn as a filled rectangle from its formation time to the current bar. If price later returns and fills the gap completely, the zone is marked \"Filled\" and either hidden or greyed out depending on InpShowFilledFVG. FVGs that form within a 4-hour window after a liquidity sweep are tagged High Probability and rendered in green, alerting the trader to the highest-confluence setups.

Module 3: Higher-Timeframe Candle Overlay

This module draws higher-timeframe candle bodies and wicks directly on your lower-timeframe chart so you can see the HTF structure without switching timeframes. The candle body is rendered as a filled rectangle spanning the HTF bar's open-to-close range with a border in InpHTFBorderColor. Upper and lower wicks are drawn as trend lines from the body edge to the high/low. The overlay only activates when your chart period is smaller than the selected HTF; if you are already on the H4 chart and HTF is set to H4, nothing is drawn.

Module 4: HTF Liquidity Sweeps

The sweep detector is the catalyst of the entire strategy. It first builds an array of confirmed swing highs and swing lows on the higher timeframe using a 2-bar pivot. Then for each subsequent HTF bar, it checks whether the wick exceeds a prior swing point while the body closes back inside. A BSL (buy-side liquidity) sweep means price wicked above a swing high, triggering buy-stop orders, then reversed — this is a bearish signal. An SSL (sell-side liquidity) sweep means price wicked below a swing low, triggering sell-stops, then reversed — a bullish signal. Each sweep is drawn as a dashed horizontal line with an arrow at the wick and a label (BSL Sweep or SSL Sweep). If price later closes decisively beyond the sweep wick on the HTF, the sweep is invalidated and optionally hidden or shown in gray.

Module 5: Alert System

The alert engine runs on every incoming tick and fires through three channels: MT5 popup alert (always), push notification to mobile (optional), and email (optional). A minimum 60-second cooldown prevents alert spam. Sweep alerts fire when a new BSL or SSL sweep is detected within the last 2 bars. SNR touch alerts fire when the current price is within InpSNRMergePips of a fresh level. FVG alerts fire when a new unfilled gap forms on the most recent bar.

Colour Configuration

All colours are fully customisable through the Colors tab of the indicator settings. The defaults are designed for a dark chart background. Each timeframe and component has its own colour group to allow quick visual differentiation

For optimal results, apply the indicator to a lower timeframe chart (M5 or M15) with the HTF Timeframe input set to H1 or H4. This gives you the multi-timeframe structure overlay while keeping the LTF detail needed for precise FVG entries.

If a shift is detected, a repaint line appears on the chart connecting the old and new extremum positions.

After simulation completes, the indicator switches to monitoring mode: each new tick is checked for repaint of the last point. An alert can be triggered upon detection.

Key Parameters

Depth — extremum search depth. Determines the minimum number of bars to form a ZigZag point. Default value: 12.

Deviation — deviation in points. Minimum price change to confirm a new extremum. Default value: 5.

Backstep — minimum number of bars between adjacent extremums. Default value: 3.

History — history analysis depth in bars. Determines how many bars will be simulated to find past repaints. Default value: 500.

Show Redraws — display repaint lines on the chart. Can be disabled for cleaner visualization while keeping statistics.

Save All — repaint saving mode. When enabled, all detected repaints are saved. When disabled, only the last one is displayed.

Alert — enable alerts when a repaint is detected in real time.

Additional Information

The control panel allows changing all ZigZag parameters and tracking settings directly from the chart. The +/- buttons change values with automatic recalculation. Toggle buttons control display modes and alerts. The Reset button returns all parameters to default values.

Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) è un indicatore di momentum ponderato per volume sviluppato da Marc Chaikin che misura la pressione di acquisto e vendita su un periodo specificato. L'indicatore calcola il Moltiplicatore del Flusso di Denaro per ogni periodo e crea una media ponderata sul periodo di analisi.

Cockpit is a real-time dashboard that watches up to 8 pairs simultaneously and tells you which ones are worth your attention right now. It ranks pairs by momentum, flags move quality, spots sweet spot entries, tracks your exposure, monitors your fatigue, and counts your session — all in one compact panel that lives on your chart.

No signals to blindly follow. No arrows telling you when to click buy. Just clean, accurate information so you can make better decisions faster.

What You See

Cockpit runs as a single panel on any chart. Every half second it scans all your watched pairs and updates five sections:

Momentum Scanner — Your pairs ranked by how much they've moved, strongest first. Each line shows the pair name, direction arrow, pip movement, and two critical tags:

Move quality tells you HOW the pair moved. CLEAN means bodies bigger than wicks, consistent direction — a tradeable move. CHOPPY means big wicks and indecision — stay away. SPIKE means one bar did all the work — you missed it. FLAT means nothing is happening.

ATR context tells you if that move matters. \"HOT\" means the move exceeds 1.5x the pair's average true range — this is unusual activity. \"warm\" means it's at or above average range. No tag means the move is within normal noise for that pair. This solves the problem of comparing 18 pips on EURUSD (which is significant) with 18 pips on XAUUSD (which is nothing).

The sweet spot star (★) appears next to pairs that pass all filters simultaneously: the move is big enough to be real but not so extended you'd be chasing, the move started recently (not 30 minutes ago), the quality is CLEAN, and the spread is tight. During London and New York sessions only, unless you disable that filter. When you see the star, that pair is in the zone.

Spread Monitor — All 8 pairs with live spreads in pips. Green means tight, orange means widening, red means stay out. You set the thresholds.

Exposure Tracker — Total long lots, total short lots, net exposure, and position count. Below that, a currency concentration warning appears if you're stacking too much exposure on one currency across multiple pairs. Catches the classic mistake of being long EURUSD and GBPUSD and AUDUSD thinking you have three trades when you really have one massive USD short.

Session Clock — Which trading session is active, how long you've been at the screen, and a countdown to the next session change. Not just \"LONDON+NY\" but \"overlap ends 47m\" so you know how much prime time you have left. The active timer changes colour as you approach fatigue thresholds.

Daily Stats — Today's P/L in dollars, win/loss count, and total pips. The pip calculation uses proper tick value data from the broker for each instrument, so it's accurate on gold, JPY pairs, indices, and exotics — not the approximate calculation most dashboards use.

Currency Pulse — One line at the bottom summarising the dominant theme. If USD is weak across 3 or more of your watched pairs, it says \"USD weak\". If there's no clear bias, it says so. Gives you the macro picture without a separate indicator.

Why Quality Matters More Than Pips

Most momentum scanners show you which pair moved the most. That's the wrong question. The right question is: which pair moved cleanly and is still tradeable?

A pair that moved 25 pips in a single spike candle 20 minutes ago is showing strong momentum by the numbers, but the move is over. A pair that moved 15 pips across 5 clean-bodied candles with small wicks in the last 30 minutes is a better opportunity despite showing less momentum.

Cockpit analyses the last several bars for body-to-wick ratio, directional consistency, and whether one bar accounts for more than 60% of the total move. The result is a single word — CLEAN, CHOPPY, SPIKE, or FLAT — that tells you instantly whether to look closer or scroll past.

The Sweet Spot

The star symbol is the feature that ties everything together. It only appears when all of these conditions are true at the same time:

The pair has moved between your minimum and maximum pip thresholds (default 8–35 pips). Below minimum means nothing is happening yet. Above maximum means you would be chasing.

At least half of the total move occurred in the most recent bars, meaning the move is still accelerating rather than stalling out.

Move quality is CLEAN — consistent bodies, controlled wicks, directional agreement across bars.

Spread is below your warning threshold — no point entering when the spread will eat your profit.

The session filter passes (London or New York hours by default).

You do not need to watch 8 charts to find this. Cockpit finds it for you and puts a star next to it.

Configurable Timeframe

The momentum scanner is not locked to M5. You choose which timeframe to scan through the inputs. The panel title automatically adjusts to show the actual lookback window (e.g. \"MOMENTUM (30 min)\" for 6 bars on M5, or \"MOMENTUM (6 min)\" for 6 bars on M1).

This means you can run Cockpit on any chart timeframe while scanning momentum on a different one. Attach it to your H1 chart for context, scan momentum on M5 for entries.

Fatigue Protection

Cockpit tracks how long you have been active and how many trades you have taken today. Configurable warning thresholds trigger colour changes and text warnings:

First warning at 3 hours active or 15 trades (configurable). Gentle reminder.

Strong warning at 5 hours active or 25 trades. Direct message to stop.

If both time and trade count hit the strong threshold simultaneously, you get the clearest possible message.

These numbers are not arbitrary. Research on trader performance shows that decision quality degrades significantly after extended screen time, and overtrading is the most common account killer for scalpers. The dashboard does not prevent you from trading — it makes sure you know what you are doing to yourself.

Sweet Spot: Minimum move, maximum move, freshness bars, and session filter. Adjust these to match your style — tighter for conservative scalping, wider for momentum plays.

Spread: Warning and critical thresholds in pips. Colour codes the spread display.

Display: Panel position, all colours customisable. The panel is 340 pixels wide and fits comfortably alongside price action on a standard monitor.

What This Is Not

This is not a signal service. There are no buy/sell arrows. There is no alert that tells you to enter now. Cockpit assumes you know how to trade and gives you the information you need to do it well — which pair to focus on, whether the move is clean, whether your exposure is balanced, whether you have been at the screen too long, and whether the session supports what you are trying to do.

Premium / Discount Zones — Shaded zones above (premium, red) and below (discount, green) the equilibrium level. The equilibrium line is drawn at the 50% retracement of the last structural move. Labels show PREMIUM, DISCOUNT, and EQ 0.5 clearly.

Come funziona

SMC Price Action utilizza il rilevamento di swing basato sui pivot per costruire la struttura di mercato in tempo reale. Quando si verificano rotture strutturali, gli order block vengono identificati automaticamente all'origine del movimento. FVG, livelli di liquidità e zone premium/sconto vengono calcolati indipendentemente e poi inseriti nel motore di confluenza, che valuta le zone sovrapposte da Medium a Extreme. Come funziona
