  • Key stated risks include changes in interest rates, local and national economic conditions, loan demand and credit quality, competition, regulation and compliance costs, deposit funding, and loss of key personnel. Management’s interest-rate sensitivity analysis showed estimated economic value of equity declining 7.37% under a 100-basis-point rate decrease and increasing 6.45% under a 100-basis-point increase.
  • The company is subject to ordinary-course claims, lawsuits and regulatory examinations; management did not expect their resolution to have a material adverse effect. The filing reported no material change to the risk factors in its 2015 Form 10-K and no material change in market risk.

Important facts for investors to verify

  • Whether the rise in nonperforming assets and decline in allowance coverage signal further credit deterioration, especially in commercial real estate and construction loans.
  • Whether mortgage servicing rights recover or face further valuation pressure from prepayments, and how mortgage banking revenue performs.
  • Whether deposit growth is sustainable and whether funding costs rise enough to pressure the net interest margin.
  • Whether reported capital and liquidity remain sufficient as loan growth continues and regulatory capital requirements phase in.
  • How much of Q1 earnings and cash generation is repeatable, given the mortgage servicing impairment, loan-sale activity and securities gains; interim results are not necessarily indicative of full-year performance.
