RKLB Stock Alert: What to Know as Rocket Lab Inches Closer to Iridium Acquisition

Rocket Lab (RKLB) shares inched higher on Tuesday as investors responded favorably to major financing progress on the company’s pending mega-acquisition of Iridium Communications (IRDM). In its press release, RKLB said it has successfully raised $1.944 billion via an at-the-market (ATM) share offering to fund that acquisition of the satellite communications specialist.

At the time of writing, Rocket Lab stock is down more than 50% versus its year-to-date high.

Why the Capital Raise Matters for Rocket Lab Stock

Paired with an amendment to Iridium Communications’ existing $1.775 billion term loan facility permitting the change of control, RKLB now holds sufficient funds to complete the transaction.

Crucially, the ATM offering allowed the space launch and systems firm to terminate its $3.6 billion bridge facility as well, eliminating high-interest financing risks.

By securing long-term financing backed by Iridium’s robust free cash flow and a parent guarantee, Rocket Lab has de-risked its capital structure ahead of the targeted mid-2027 close date.

All in all, the announcement is bullish for RKLB shares as it establishes a clearer pathway for the company to become a fully integrated end-to-end space prime.

Is It Worth Investing in RKLB Shares Today?

With financing uncertainties cleared, Rocket Lab shares present a compelling long-term case for growth-oriented space investors.

Dilution from issuing 29.3 million shares is likely priced in already, yet the company gains access to Iridium’s stable recurring revenues and strong cash flows.

Meanwhile, removing the expensive bridge facility lowers execution risks as well.

While integration delays or broader tech volatility may still create short-term swings, investing in RKLB at the current price offers an attractive entry point into a high-growth end-to-end space firm that combines proven launch capabilities with a premier satellite communications network.

That said, Barchart currently holds an “88% SELL” opinion on Rocket Lab, indicating technical momentum is not in its favor for the near term.

What’s the Consensus Rating on Rocket Lab?

Wall Street analysts do not, however, agree with Barchart’s dovish stance on Rocket Lab.

The consensus rating on RKLB stock sits at “Strong Buy” currently, with the mean price objective of about $109 indicating potential upside of more than 60% through the remainder of 2026.
