Is Wall Street Bullish or Bearish on Fortinet Stock?

Fortinet, Inc. (FTNT), headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, provides cybersecurity and convergence of networking and security solutions. Valued at $99.8 billion by market cap, the company offers network security appliances, software, and subscription services. Fortinet systems integrate the industry's broadest suite of security technologies, including firewall, VPN, antivirus, intrusion prevention (IPS), web filtering, antispam, and traffic shaping.

Shares of this cybersecurity giant have outperformed the broader market over the past year. FTNT has gained 58.5% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied nearly 11.1%. In 2026, FTNT stock is up 72.5%, surpassing SPX’s 10.7% rise on a YTD basis.

Zooming in further, FTNT’s outperformance looks less pronounced compared to Xtrackers Cybersecurity Select Equity ETF (PSWD). The exchange-traded fund has gained about 31.1% over the past year. Moreover, FTNT’s gains on a YTD basis outshine the ETF’s 42.6% returns over the same time frame.

Fortinet has delivered strong outperformance driven by robust product cycles, surging hardware billings, and expanding profitability. Even with a sharp valuation reset following its third-quarter report, the stock has been underpinned by double-digit revenue growth, a strong acceleration in large enterprise deal closures, and record operating margins fueled by sustained momentum in its SASE and AI-driven security solutions.

On Oct. 28, FTNT reported its Q3 results, and its shares tumbled over 20% in the following trading session. Its adjusted EPS of $0.91 beat Wall Street expectations of $0.85. The company’s revenue was $2.08 billion, exceeding Wall Street forecasts of $2.06 billion. FTNT expects full-year adjusted EPS in the range of $3.54 to $3.58, and revenue ranging from $8.13 billion to $8.22 billion.

For the current fiscal year, ending in December, analysts expect FTNT’s EPS to grow 31.8% to $3.19 on a diluted basis. The company’s earnings surprise history is impressive. It beat the consensus estimate in each of the last four quarters.

Among the 42 analysts covering FTNT stock, the consensus is a “Hold.” That’s based on eight “Strong Buy” ratings, 29 “Holds,” and five “Strong Sells.”

On Oct. 30, Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) analyst Richard Poland maintained a “Sell” rating on FTNT and set a price target of $115.

The mean price target of $151.72 represents an 11.5% premium to FTNT’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $225 suggests an ambitious upside potential of 65.3%.
