Nucor Expands Towers & Structures Capacity to Meet Rising Demand

Nucor Corporation NUE is strengthening its position in the utility infrastructure market with an investment of $60 million to expand its Nucor Towers & Structures facility in Trinity, AL. Subject to regulatory and other approvals, the project will add 60 jobs with average annual wages exceeding $87,000 and increase production of steel poles and other structures used in utility infrastructure.

The expansion comes as the company invests in modernizing and strengthening the nation’s power infrastructure. It will support growing demand from utility customers to support long-term infrastructure needs. The project will expand production capacity, provide additional laydown space and develop a dedicated galvanizing inspection area.

Nucor's latest investment builds on its broader strategy to expand its Towers & Structures operations. The company established the business in 2022 through the acquisition of Summit Utility Structures and has since opened facilities in Alabama and Indiana. A fourth facility in Utah is under construction and is expected to begin operations in 2027.

The Trinity expansion should enhance production capabilities, improve customer service and support long-term growth while reinforcing the company's presence in Alabama and Nucor’s longstanding commitment to Alabama and its communities.

NUE shares have gained 91.1% in the past year compared with the industry’s 58.1% growth.
