Processing and payment fees rose 12.1% in Q2 and 11.5% for the first half. Transportation and expense-management dollar volumes increased 13.5% and 10.8% in Q2, respectively. Total net revenue was nearly flat in Q2 and up modestly year to date; the comparisons include securities-sale gains of $1.7 million in Q2 2013 and $3.1 million in the first half of 2013, with no such gains in 2014. Net income declined 0.6% in Q2 and 2.1% for the first half.
Tax-equivalent net interest income declined 3.9% in Q2 and 6.2% in the first half. Management attributed pressure to low interest rates and lower yields as higher-yielding assets reprice, mature, or are sold. Average loans also fell year over year, reflecting amortization and competition; average investment securities increased. First-half provision for loan losses was zero, compared with $0.5 million in 2013.
Information Services segment net income was $8.4 million for the first half, up from $7.9 million; Banking Services net income was $3.5 million, down from $4.1 million.

Available facilities included $88.0 million of unsecured correspondent-bank lines, a $166.6 million secured Federal Home Loan Bank line, and a $50.0 million secured UMB line. Accounts and drafts payable are a significant source of operating funding and fluctuate with processing activity.

Credit, outlook, and risks
Nonperforming loans were $1.5 million, or 0.23% of loans, at June 30, compared with $1.8 million, or 0.30%, at December 31, 2013. The allowance was $11.9 million, or 1.78% of loans. There were three nonaccrual loans, no loans 90 days past due and accruing, and no troubled debt restructurings. Management also identified one $4.2 million loan for special monitoring.
Management expected cash, maturing investments, and operating cash flow to fund operations and capital expenditures in 2014; estimated capital expenditures were less than $5 million. The filing provides no earnings or revenue guidance. Management identified interest rates, economic and business activity, energy costs, and new-business opportunities as factors that could affect results and liquidity. Its interest-rate risk policy seeks to limit the change in annualized net interest income to 15% under an immediate, sustained 200-basis-point parallel rate change; management said its risk position had not changed materially from year-end.
Off-balance-sheet commitments at June 30 included $14.3 million of unused loan commitments, $11.4 million of standby letters of credit, and $2.7 million of commercial letters of credit; no losses were accrued. Operating lease commitments totaled $8.9 million. Management believed pending legal matters would not materially affect the company. Unrecognized tax benefits were approximately $1.3 million; federal and state returns for 2010–2012 remained subject to examination. Pension costs declined year over year, and the company had made no contribution to its funded pension plan during the first half; it was evaluating whether to contribute in 2014.
