Corn Starting Tuesday with Turnaround Losses

Corn price action is down 3 to 4 cents on Tuesday morning. Futures saw money flow flock back in on Monday, with bulls adding back some risk ahead of the US/China meeting this week. Contracts were up 3 ¼ to 15 ½ cents at the close, led by the front months. Open interest was down just 453 contracts, mainly in the front months. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price was up 15 1/2 cents at $4.98 3/4.  

Monday’s Crop Progress report tallied 58% of the US corn crop listed as mature as of September 20, with harvest at 13% complete and ahead of the 11% average pace. Condition ratings were back up 1 percentage point this week at 57% in good to excellent condition, as the Brugler500 index held steady at 347.

USDA’s FGIS tallied corn export shipments at 1.938 MMT (76.32 mbu) during the week ending on September 17. That was up 24.9% from the week prior and 39.87% above the same week last year. Japan was the top destination of 591,923 MT, with 540,979 MT headed to Mexico and 259,441 MT to Colombia. Marketing year exports for 2026/27 are 4.139 MMT (162.93 mbu), which is now 15.94% above the same period last year.

US Treasury Secretary Bessent met with Chinese counterparts over the weekend in preparation for this week’s meeting between the leaders of the two countries.

Nearby Cash  was $4.98 3/4, up 15 1/2 cents,

Mar 27 Corn  closed at $5.56 3/4, up 15 1/4 cents, currently down 3 3/4 cents

May 27 Corn  closed at $5.63, up 14 3/4 cents, currently down 3 1/2 cents
