Intel Corporation INTC has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure portfolio with three new platforms designed to support agentic AI across data centers, enterprise systems and intelligent edge devices. The company introduced Diamond Rapids, Crescent Island and Wildcat Lake to address growing AI demands across data centers and intelligent devices.
Intel’s next-generation Diamond Rapids Xeon processor is designed to support enterprise-scale agentic AI workloads. Built on the Intel 18A-P process, it offers up to 256 cores, 16 memory channels supporting speeds of up to 12,800 MT/s and 128 lanes of PCIe Gen6 and CXL 3.0. It includes Advanced Performance Extensions, enhanced Advanced Matrix Extensions and a high-bandwidth memory system to improve AI performance.
The Crescent Island is a low-power AI inference GPU based on the Xe3P architecture, featuring 32 Xe cores, 256 XMX engines and up to 480GB of LPDDR5X memory in a 350-watt air-cooled PCIe design. At the edge, the company launched Wildcat Lake, as Intel Core Series 3 processors, bringing AI capabilities to laptops and edge devices with two performance cores, four efficiency cores, Xe3 graphics with XMX acceleration and an NPU offering up to 17 TOPS, along with support for LPDDR5X-7467, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
These offerings highlight Intel’s strategy for addressing AI requirements across infrastructure and devices. With technologies including Foveros Direct 3D packaging and UCIe interconnects, the company is building a scalable foundation for the growing adoption of agentic AI.
How Are Competitors Performing in the AI Space?
Intel faces competition from Qualcomm Incorporated QCOM and Advanced Micro Devices AMD. Qualcomm is expanding its AI business into data centers, enterprise and edge computing with the acquisition of AI software company Modular. The company is advancing its Snapdragon and data center technologies to support AI workloads across PCs, vehicles, smartphones, connected devices and enterprise systems. Qualcomm is also developing AI inference and computing solutions focused on improving performance, energy efficiency and cost across cloud and edge environments.
AMD is expanding its AI business with Helios, a rack-scale platform that combines Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs and networking technologies for large AI workloads. The company is strengthening partnerships with major AI companies, including OpenAI and Microsoft, to expand the use of its AI infrastructure. AMD’s AI portfolio also includes the Instinct MI350P GPU, designed to accelerate generative and agentic AI workloads within existing data-center infrastructure.
INTC’s Price Performance, Valuation & Estimates
Shares of Intel have skyrocketed 255.4% over the past year compared with the industry’s growth of 20.7%.
