PACS Expands Florida Footprint With 32-Facility Acquisition

PACS Group PACS announced that the subsidiaries of the company have entered definitive agreements to acquire the operations of 32 skilled nursing facilities across Florida. The facilities, which will be leased from subsidiaries of existing REIT landlord Omega Healthcare Investors, have a combined 4,049 licensed skilled nursing beds and are integrated into local healthcare networks across the state. The transaction is expected to establish a statewide network for PACS and expand its presence in a high-growth post-acute care market.

Per Jason Murray, chairman and CEO of PACS, the entry into Florida marks an important expansion opportunity for PACS, with the state offering strong demographic demand and significant potential for growth in post-acute care. The expansion aligns with the company’s long-term strategy of entering attractive markets while strengthening care delivery. PACS plans to support local teams, build on the facilities’ existing operational strengths and bring its culture, values and commitment to localized care to the communities it serves.

PACS Stock Trend Following the News

Shares of PACS have lost 3.3% since the announcement on Thursday. Year to date, the stock has gained 10.7% compared with the industry’s 2.8% growth and the S&P 500’s 12.1% return.

The planned Florida expansion is a positive development for PACS as it significantly increases the company’s scale and establishes a presence in a new state. Adding 32 facilities and more than 4,000 licensed beds should expand PACS’s addressable market, strengthen its post-acute care network and provide opportunities to leverage its operating model across Florida.

PACS currently has a market capitalization of $6.73 billion.

More on the News

The Florida acquisition will further expand PACS’ operations in the South, complementing its existing footprint of 25 facilities in Texas, 27 in South Carolina, 12 in Tennessee and seven in Kentucky. The transaction is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and contingencies.

PACS president and COO Josh Jergensen said that the company is looking forward to working with the acquired facilities and their local leadership teams, leveraging its locally led, centrally supported operating model as the integration process begins following the expected closing. The transaction aligns with PACS’s disciplined growth strategy, focusing on opportunities where strong local leadership can benefit from the company’s operating model while maintaining high-quality care for residents and communities.

Industry Prospects Favoring the Market

According to data provided by Precedence Research, the U.S. post-acute care market is predicted to be valued at $532.48 billion in 2026 and is expected to witness a CAGR of 4.9% through 2035.

Factors like the increasing demand for quality care and speedy recovery, rising geriatric population in the country, mounting cases of chronic diseases and growing demand for home-based services post-hospitalization are boosting the market’s growth.
