This indicator gives full information about the market state: strength and direction of a trend, volatility and price movement channel. It has two graphical components:

\r\n

Histogram: the size and the color of a bar show the strength and direction of a trend. Positive values show an ascending trend and negative values - a descending trend. Green bar is for up motion, red one - for down motion, and the yellow one means no trend. Signal line is the value of the histogram (you can enable divergence search).
Trend channel: upper border, lower border and the center of the channel (middle line). Color of the middle line shows the slope of the channel, and the channel width shows the volatility.

\r\n

Trading

\r\n

Buy: signal line have crossed the lower border of the channel, the histogram shows the beginning of upward motion. The line is either yellow (channel is horizontal) or green (the channel is directed upwards). It is recommended to move the position to breakeven when reaching the middle of the channel. Close positions when conditions for selling are formed.
Sell: signal line have crossed the upper border of the channel, the histogram shows the beginning of downward motion. The line is either yellow (channel is horizontal) or red (the channel is directed downwards). It is recommended to move the position to breakeven when reaching the middle of the channel. Close positions when conditions for buying are formed.

\r\n

You can also use divergence for entering deals. If a divergence signal is received after the signal line crossed the channel border, you can enter in the direction of the opposite border of the channel without waiting for confirmation from the histogram. It is not recommended to enter a trade at low volatility of the market (when the channel is narrow). It is not recommended to sell when the channel is directed upwards (the middle line is green). It is not recommended to buy when the channel is directed downwards (the middle line is red).

\r\n

The histogram represents a graph of changes of the regression line slope. The channel is the standard deviation from the average slope of the regression line.

\r\n

Input Parameters:

\r\n

Period histogram - period for calculation of the histogram, 24 on default;
Treshold histogram - threshold value for displaying the histogram when there is no trend, 6.0 on default (range: from -6.0 to 6.0);
Period volatility band - period for calculation of the volatility channel, 24 on default;
Treshold volatility band - threshold value for displaying the horizontal orientation of the trend channel, 3.0 on default (range: from -3.0 to 3.0);
Display cross bands volatility alert - notification when the signal line crosses the channel borders, true on default;
Display divergence arrow - displaying divergence graphically (arrows), false on default;
Display divergence alert - notification about divergence, false on default.

Round Levels Step in Points - distance between adjacent \"round\" levels in points - it is usually set as multiple of 500.
Up & Down Round Levels Number - number of displayed \"round\" price levels above and below the current price. If set to 4, the levels closest to price (4 below and 4 above) are displayed.
Chart Color Schema - indicator's color scheme. The following schemes are available: light/dark/black on white/white on black.

This example shows the convenience of the multicurrency analysis based on various trading strategies (for example, Elder's Triple Screen, seasonal trends, etc.), as well as the development of new strategies depending on the trader's preferences.

Of course, a backtest cannot tell you everything you need. For example, GBPUSD is now changing direction to a downward trend (at ~1.64000 on 02.12.2013).

It's a good opportunity to use the grid strategy to benefit from that fall. Test previous up and down trends to adjust the best grid for this pair. You need to use a little brain to have results with this strategy, not just run it wild. Or \"run it wild\" only when you think the up/down trend is going to continue.

Volume in effect is reduced unless the Money Flow Multiplier is at its extremes (+1 or -1).

CMF provides three types of typical signals:

Values above zero indicate accumulation line. Values below zero indicate distribution one (see indicator A/D).

Application

\r\n

Chaikin Money Flow can be used to define a general buying or\r\n selling bias simply with positive or negative values. The indicator oscillates\r\n above/below the zero line. Generally, buying pressure is stronger when the\r\n indicator is positive and selling pressure is strong when the indicator is\r\n negative.

\r\n

While this zero line cross seems simple enough, the reality is\r\nmuch choppier. Chaikin Money Flow sometimes only briefly crosses the zero line\r\nwith a move that turns the indicator barely positive or negative. There is no\r\nfollow through and this zero line cross ends up becoming a whipsaw (bad\r\nsignal). Chartists can filter these signals with buffers by setting the bullish\r\nthreshold a little above zero (+.05) and the bearish threshold a little below\r\nzero (-.05). These thresholds will not entirely eliminate bad signals, but can\r\nhelp reduce whipsaws and filter out weaker signals.

How to use Pair Trading Station

Pair Trading Station is recommended for H1 time frame and you can use it for any currency pairs. To generate buy and sell signal, follow few steps below to apply Pair Trading Station to your MetaTrader terminal.

When you load Pair Trading Station on your chart, Pair Trading station will assess available historical data in your MetaTrader platforms for each currency pair. On your chart, the amount of historical data available will be displayed for each currency pair at the beginning for your information. The minimum condition for calculation of Pair trading statistics really depends on available historical data. For example, for EURUSD and GBPUSD, MetaTrader Terminal must have matching historical data to calculate pair trading statistics for these pairs. When there is not enough historical data, you can do few things. Firstly you might open charts for that currency pairs and MetaTrader may load some of historical data. Secondly you might use Historical data centre to load the historical data manually.
Secondly, you need to decide the correlation level for Pair Trading Station to generate trading signals. Higher correlation level will give you more accurate trading signal but you might get fewer trading signals. Based on our experience, the correlation must be greater 0.7.
Once you have set the amount of bars to be used in the calculation and the correlation level, it is time to ask your Pair Trading Station to go through intensive calculation to generate trading signals. Just click “Analyze Pair” button to proceed the calculation. The calculation may take from 30 seconds to several minutes. The calculation time mainly depend on two factor including amount of bars to be used and the number of currency pairs in your market watch. If you have already calculated Pair trading statistics quite lately, then you don’t have to go through the intensive calculation again because Pair Trading Station keeps the latest Pair Trading Statistics. To load the latest Pair Trading Statistics, you just need to press “Ctrl”+ J key on your keyboard.

Must Read and Follow

Keep the right amount of symbols in your market watch. Otherwise, it can overload your cpu and memory. Start with 8 important symbols first in market watch, then gradually increase the numbers as you understand the process.

Many traders are not aware of how much historical data is loaded in your charts. In default setting, normally short historical data, pre-set by your broker, is loaded on your charts. To quickly increase historical data in your charts for many currency pairs, in the history centre, you can just download H1 historical data only for fast processing. Once the pair trading statistics is calculated and saved, you don’t have to worry about if your brokers overwrite or delete your historical data because Pair Trading Station will carry on generating signals using the saved information.

Input Variable Description

Bars to scan for calculation: To calculate pair trading statistics, you need to specify how much historical data you are going to use in the calculation. Check the currency pairs with smallest and largest historical data to get some idea of how much historical data is available in your MetaTrader terminal. Then choose good amount of data to calculate pair trading statistics.
Minimum Bars to qualify for calculation: Pair Trading Station will skip calculation if currency pair have less than minimum bars
Minimum Factor to qualify for signal: normally signal is qualified from factor 2 as in z score of standard deviation
Correlation Limit to match pairs: If correlation is too low, then Pair Trading Station will skip the calculation.
Lines Per Column when signal is displayed: This variable will specify how many lines of signal to be displayed per column in your chart
Colour for Medium Strength Signal: Control colour for medium strength signal
Colour for High Strength Signal: Control colour for high strength signal
Colour for Extreme Strength Signal: Control colour for extreme strength signal

How to use

Attach the indicator to the chart;
Controlling console will appear on the chart; if not just move the mouse to the top left side of the chart;

Chart Color Schema - indicator's color scheme. The following schemes are available: light/dark/black on white/white on black.
Show Bid Line - show/hide Bid price location on the chart as a horizontal line. Line color and style are set as individual parameters.
Show Ask Line - show/hide Ask price location on the chart as a horizontal line. Line color and style are set as individual parameters.
Show Last Line - show/hide Last price location on the chart as a horizontal line. Line color and style are set as individual parameters. This price is valid for stock symbols (for example, for Russian FORTS market).
Bid Line Style - line style for Bid price on the chart (solid, dashed, etc.).
