My name is Mateus, and like most Forex traders, I started out knowing absolutely nothing about trading Forex. I’m an engineer and IT entrepreneur who is passionate about all forms of technology with thirty years of experience so far.

I only became familiar with the Forex market two years ago. At the time, I purchased several EA’s from the MQL Market, spending about US$7,000 on bots I no longer use. They didn’t just stop performing over time; many didn’t perform in the first place. When something goes wrong, most developers discard any complaint as being related to user error. Although that is certainly commonplace in such a high-risk environment, I was not satisfied with those answers.

Sure, these non-performing bots cost money and lost money, but they gave me a valuable experience. I was able to leverage my professional background to start this project. Over the last two years, I created dozens of EAs, using every type of strategy I read about and replicating several of the EAs I bought. Finally, I was able to see that nearly all EAs on the market use high-risk strategies to present an absurd growth curve that appeals to naive buyers.

For example, there is the infamous Martingale, Grid, Average, and a combination of these techniques. Another common strategy is placing stop-losses much further away than the take-profit.

When I discovered automated trading strategy builder tools, my eyes gleamed, because I realized there was a genuine opportunity to create a truly profitable EA.

What I did next was set up a server farm that did nothing but look for profitable strategies.

Without any real expectations, I listed PortfolioX for sale on mql5.com, and many other traders and developers were interested in the idea.

This was the best decision I could have made. I received feedback from many real users who have helped to push the project even further than I had initially intended.

Even though there are thousands of active users and members in the community, PortfolioX is still a young project with a lot more potential. New ideas are continually arising and help me to make the EA more flexible, secure and profitable for everyone.

This is a journey, and I feel it has so much potential, not just for me, but everyone who chose to be involved in the development of PortfolioX and the ecosystem surrounding it.
