CVRx Secures Devoted Health Coverage for Barostim Therapy

CVRx CVRX announced that Devoted Health has issued a Medicare Advantage coverage policy for its Barostim therapy, effective July 17, 2026. The policy covers patients under the current FDA-approved indication and those enrolled in the BENEFIT-HF clinical trial, expanding reimbursement access across Devoted Health's roughly 466,000 Medicare Advantage members in 29 states.

From an investor standpoint, the announcement marks another reimbursement milestone for CVRx as broader payer coverage remains a key driver of Barostim adoption. Combined with Humana's earlier coverage policy, the company now has Medicare Advantage coverage representing about 21% of total enrollment, strengthening its commercial outlook and improving patient access while supporting long-term procedure growth.

Likely Trend of CVRX Stock Following the News

Following the announcement, shares of CVRX have traded flat. Year to date, shares of the company have plunged 57.2% compared with the industry’s 6.7% decline. However, the S&P 500 has risen 11.7% in the same timeframe.

The Devoted Health coverage policy is likely to strengthen CVRx's long-term commercial outlook by reducing reimbursement barriers for Barostim, a key factor influencing physician adoption and patient access. The addition of roughly 466,000 Medicare Advantage members across 29 states expands the therapy's reimbursable patient base, while combined coverage from Devoted Health and Humana now represents about 21% of Medicare Advantage enrollment.

CVRX currently has a market capitalization of $87.1 million.

More on the News

The newly announced policy extends coverage beyond Barostim's existing FDA-approved indication to include patients participating in the landmark BENEFIT-HF clinical trial, a move that could support both commercial adoption and clinical research enrollment. Devoted Health is the eighth-largest Medicare Advantage insurer in the United States, with nearly 466,000 members across 29 states, making it a meaningful addition to CVRx's reimbursement footprint.

According to management, the latest policy builds on Humana's earlier Medicare Advantage coverage decision. The announcement also follows a series of reimbursement milestones for Barostim in 2026, including the rollout of Category I CPT codes for the procedure in January and CMS approval of Category B Investigational Device Exemption coverage for patients enrolled in the BENEFIT-HF trial.

More on the Barostim Therapy

Barostim is the first FDA-approved neuromodulation therapy designed to improve symptoms in heart failure patients by delivering electrical pulses to baroreceptors in the carotid artery, helping restore balance to the autonomic nervous system. Meanwhile, the BENEFIT-HF trial is evaluating the therapy in a significantly broader heart failure population through a randomized, controlled study expected to enroll about 2,500 patients across nearly 150 centers in the United States and Germany.

The trial aims to assess whether Barostim can reduce major clinical events such as hospitalization, transplant and mortality while improving outcomes in patients beyond the current approved indication.

Industry Prospects Favoring the Market

Going by the data provided by Grand View Research, the global neuromodulation devices market size was valued at $6.4 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow from $7 billion in 2026 to $13.9 billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 10.4% from 2026 to 2033.

The rising government funding for R&D activities in these devices, increasing prevalence of neurological disorders and technological advancements in these devices are driving the market growth.
