About Intuitive Machines Stock
Intuitive Machines is a space infrastructure company that develops lunar landers, orbital delivery systems, satellite platforms, and communications networks for commercial, civil, and national security customers. The company is best known for achieving the first U.S. commercial soft landing on the moon and provides end-to-end space infrastructure services through its spacecraft, navigation, and data transmission capabilities. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Intuitive Machines has a market cap of $3.24 billion.
Shares of Intuitive Machines have delivered a volatile ride over the past year, reflecting both the promise and execution risks associated with the emerging commercial space industry. Despite experiencing sharp swings, the stock remains up 64% over the past 52 weeks.
However, LUNR stock has increased a marginal 1.54% year-to-date (YTD), reflecting broader weakness in speculative growth stocks and investor caution following its lunar mission and integration efforts.
Nevertheless, momentum has turned sharply positive in recent sessions, with the shares rising 33.55% over the past five trading days. The rally has been fueled by several high-profile catalysts, including the announcement that L3Harris Technologies (LHX) selected Intuitive Machines to develop and manufacture spacecraft platforms for the Space Development Agency’s Accelerated Missile Defense Tranche 3 (AMDT3) mission, disclosed on Aug. 4, as well as the company’s completion of the Goonhilly Earth Station and COMSAT acquisitions, announced on Aug. 3, which significantly expands its deep-space communications and global ground-station capabilities.
Meanwhile, the recent rally suggests investors are increasingly positioning for updates on backlog execution, profitability, and the company’s long-term growth outlook when the company reports its second-quarter earnings on Aug. 13.
The stock is currently trading at 14.45 times sales, which is a premium compared to its peers.
Improving Top Line Positioning, but Bottom Line in the Red
Intuitive Machines released its first-quarter 2026 results on May 14, reporting record financial performance driven by strong contract execution and the integration of its Lanteris Space Systems acquisition. Revenue surged 198.7% year-over-year (YOY) to a record $186.7 million, up from $62.5 million in the prior-year quarter.
The company also achieved its first positive adjusted EBITDA of $2.7 million, a significant improvement from an adjusted EBITDA loss of $6.6 million in the first quarter of 2025. However, net loss widened to $52.5 million, or $0.25 per share, from net income of almost $1 million, primarily due to acquisition-related transaction costs, amortization, financing expenses, and non-cash fair-value adjustments associated with the Lanteris acquisition. Quarter-end backlog reached a record $1.1 billion, an increase of $842 million from year-end 2025, highlighting strong demand and long-term revenue visibility.
Beyond the financial results, management highlighted several strategic milestones that strengthened the company’s long-term growth outlook. During the quarter, Intuitive Machines completed its $800 million acquisition of Lanteris Space Systems, transforming the company into a vertically integrated space infrastructure provider. It also secured $428.9 million in new contract awards, including a $180.4 million NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) contract, its fifth CLPS task order and the first utilizing its larger Nova-D lunar lander.
In the second quarter, the company won a position on the U.S. Space Force’s Andromeda IDIQ contract, which carries a potential ceiling value of $6.2 billion. Furthermore, management reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance for $900 million to $1.0 billion in revenue and positive adjusted EBITDA.
On the other hand, analysts anticipate loss per share to improve 12.5% YOY to $0.35 in fiscal 2026, and again 68.6% to $0.11 in fiscal 2027.
The consensus loss per share for the about to be reported quarter (ended June 2026) is at $0.07, which is a 36.4% improvement.
