Expedia Group Earnings Preview: What to Expect

Seattle, Washington-based Expedia Group, Inc. (EXPE) is a leading online travel company that operates a portfolio of travel booking platforms and technology solutions. Its flagship brands include Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. Valued at a market cap of $33.5 billion, it operates as a two-sided platform, linking consumers with travel suppliers while simplifying trip planning through aggregated listings, price comparisons, and seamless booking tools.

The company is scheduled to announce its fiscal 2026 Q3 earnings on Wednesday, Nov. 4, after the market closes. Ahead of this event, analysts expect this travel services provider to report a profit of $8.07 per share, up 14.8% from $7.03 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company has topped Wall Street’s bottom-line estimates in each of the last four quarters, which is impressive.

For the current fiscal year, ending in December, analysts expect EXPE to report a profit of $17.35 per share, up 29.9% from $13.36 per share in fiscal 2025. Its EPS is expected to further grow 18% year over year to $20.47 in fiscal 2027.

EXPE has soared 34% over the past 52 weeks, notably outperforming both the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 13.1% return and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLY) 8.5% downtick over the same time period.

On Sept. 23, Expedia shares fell 7.2% amid concerns that AI agents such as Muse could disrupt traditional online travel booking by allowing users to search for and book flights and accommodations directly. Bloomberg Intelligence analysts warned that AI agents capturing 5% to 10% of travel, ride-hailing, and delivery transactions could result in more than $5 billion in combined revenue losses across the affected industries.

However, this remains a hypothetical scenario, with the actual impact depending on whether travelers increasingly complete bookings through AI agents rather than platforms such as Expedia.

Wall Street analysts are moderately optimistic about EXPE’s stock, with a "Moderate Buy" rating overall. Among 36 analysts covering the stock, 13 recommend "Strong Buy," two indicates a "Moderate Buy,” 20 suggest "Hold,” and one “Moderate Sell.” The average price target of $277.24 suggests a 14.7% potential upside from the current levels.
