The software titan is expected to announce its fiscal third-quarter earnings for 2027 soon. Ahead of the event, analysts tracking Autodesk expect it to report a profit of $2.27 per share on a diluted basis, up 26.1% from $1.80 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company beat the consensus estimates in each of the last four quarters.

For the current year, analysts project Autodesk’s EPS to be $9.70, up 40.2% from $6.92 in fiscal 2026. Its EPS is expected to rise 12.7% year over year to $10.93 in fiscal 2028.

Over the past 52 weeks, ADSK stock has dipped 18.6%, notably underperforming the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 12% gains and the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLK) 24.1% gains over the same time frame.

Autodesk’s shares have struggled to maintain their momentum, even after receiving a boost from a major deal in the engineering software industry. In early October, ADSK stock rallied after French industrial conglomerate Schneider Electric announced its $22.6 billion all-cash acquisition of rival PTC at a whopping 42.3% premium. The deal sparked a broader re-rating across the sector, highlighting the potential value of engineering design and product lifecycle software companies.

However, that optimism has not been enough to sustain Autodesk’s gains. The stock has faced pressure following its fiscal Q2 2027 results in August. While the company beat expectations on both revenue and earnings, its lowered GAAP operating margin outlook disappointed investors. Integration costs associated with its $3.6 billion MaintainX acquisition weighed on the margin outlook, while softer forward profit guidance added to concerns.

Autodesk reported adjusted EPS of $3.30 on revenue of $2.05 billion. However, its full-year guidance of $12.52 to $12.60 in adjusted EPS and $8.295 billion to $8.345 billion in revenue failed to fully ease investor concerns. Combined with broader weakness in enterprise software valuations, these pressures have kept ADSK under strain despite its steady revenue growth.

Analysts’ consensus opinion on ADSK stock is bullish, with a “Strong Buy” rating overall. Out of 33 analysts covering the stock, 27 advise a “Strong Buy” rating, one suggests a “Moderate Buy,” and five recommend a “Hold.” ADSK’s average analyst price target is $318.64, indicating potential upside of 31.8% from the current levels.
