MercadoLibre, Inc. MELI is seeing stronger customer engagement as the growing integration between its commerce marketplace and Mercado Pago financial services encourages users to interact more frequently across both platforms. The company's integrated ecosystem is becoming a key driver of customer activity, with shopping, payments, credit offerings and loyalty benefits reinforcing one another. The second quarter of 2026 highlighted this trend, as more customers embraced multiple services within MercadoLibre's ecosystem.
The number of ecosystemic users, who engage with both the marketplace and Mercado Pago, increased 37% year over year. This group has been MercadoLibre's fastest-growing user segment since the fourth quarter of 2023. Compared with marketplace-only users, ecosystemic customers generated 70% more gross merchandise volume and purchased 55% more items per user. Their engagement also spanned product categories, with the share of ecosystemic users purchasing three or more categories exceeding that of marketplace-only users by more than 15 percentage points.
Financial services are strengthening this connection. Total payment volume per ecosystemic user was nearly 90% higher than among fintech-only users, while assets under management per user were more than twice as high. Mercado Pago credit cardholders were also two to three times more likely to remain ecosystemic. Contribution profit per ecosystemic user was multiples of the combined profit generated by marketplace-only and fintech-only users.
MELI+ subscriber growth increased 72% year over year, adding another layer of engagement. These trends demonstrate how MercadoLibre's interconnected offerings are fostering deeper customer relationships and reinforcing the engagement flywheel.

MELI’s Investment Case
MercadoLibre’s strong e-commerce momentum, expanding cross-border trade and growing fintech ecosystem reinforce its long-term growth prospects. Rising user engagement, robust advertising growth and credit portfolio expansion remain key positives, strengthening its competitive position across Latin America. However, margin compression stemming from strategic investments, higher logistics costs and softer consumer demand in certain markets warrant caution. MELI currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
