Estimate Trend for KMI

The consensus estimate for revenues of $4.38 billion implies a 5.7% increase from the year-ago recorded figure.

Factors to Consider Ahead of KMI's Q3 Results

Kinder Morgan is a leading midstream energy player in North America, with an extensive natural gas pipeline network comprising around 58,600 miles of transmission and 6,800 miles of gathering pipelines. The company transports nearly 40% of the natural gas produced in the United States. Due to the contractual nature of its business, with minimal exposure to commodity pricing volatility, KMI is likely to have generated stable earnings and cash flows in the third quarter.

The majority of its cash flows are anchored by fee-based contracts or take-or-pay agreements. The pipeline company is expected to have benefited from sustained natural gas demand driven by higher LNG exports, industrial demand and electricity generation needs. For the third quarter, natural gas gathering volumes are expected to average 4,649 British thermal units per day (BBtu/d) from 4,380 BBtu/d in the prior-year quarter, according to the Zacks Consensus Estimate. These factors are anticipated to have driven demand and pricing dynamics, aiding Kinder Morgan’s quarterly performance.
