Ondas Inc. ONDS is strengthening its position in the airborne defense and aircraft protection market following the successful installation and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (“EASA”) certification of its Airborne Missile Protection System (“AMPS”) on the Bombardier Global 7500 aircraft.
Developed by its subsidiary BIRD Aerosystems, AMPS incorporates advanced missile warning, threat detection and confirmation, tracking and directional infrared countermeasures (“DIRCM”) capabilities to protect aircraft against infrared-guided missile threats.
Ondas highlighted that the integrated capabilities of the AMPS suite enable rapid responses while minimizing false alarms. AMPS can be used across a wide range of aircraft, including helicopters, transport and commercial aircraft and VVIP/head-of-state aircraft.
Ondas acquired BIRD Aerosystems in March 2026. The company brings an established international footprint, with its protection technologies installed on more than 700 aircraft spanning over 40 aircraft types, serving U.S. Army, NATO, other armed forces in Asia-Pacific and UN aviation fleets.
Ondas continues strengthening its broader defense portfolio through strategic M&A. Acquisitions have strengthened the portfolio offerings and broadened its reach across multiple domains, including unmanned ground systems, robotics, fiber-optic communications, and subsurface intelligence and demining robotics. In the past year, it has acquired Sentrycs, Apeiro Motion and Zickel, among others. Recent additions include World View, Mistral, Omnisys, DZYNE and Cyberhawk.
In September, Ondas acquired three defense technology businesses (Insignito, Ottopia Defense and Caribou Labs) for $56 million, payable in cash or its common stock, with potential performance-based earn-outs of up to $32 million based upon achieving key performance milestones through 2028.
Before that, the company acquired GATE Technologies and Bron Technologies, adding electronic safe-and-arm (ESADs) devices and advanced electronic fuzing technologies. In August, it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Aran Defense Ltd., the defense division of Aran Ltd., for approximately $33 million in cash or common stock. Aran Defense would expand Ondas’ Israeli engineering and manufacturing capacity, including roughly 4,400 square meters of facilities.
Ondas secured more than $165 million in aggregate orders from the second half of August through Oct. 1. This, when combined with roughly $105 million of orders disclosed on the last earnings call (Aug. 13), brings total orders to more than $270 million since June 30, improving revenue visibility into 2027.
While the EASA milestone enhances Ondas' market credibility and expands its addressable opportunities, sustained growth will depend on translating certifications and technological capabilities into additional customer contracts and recurring revenues.
Competitive Landscape
Competition in airborne missile protection remains intense, with established defense contractors like Elbit Systems ESLT, Northrop Grumman NOC and BAE Systems BAESY investing in advanced countermeasure technologies.
Israel-based Elbit Systems’ J-MUSIC and C-MUSIC DIRCM solutions are used to protect aircraft against infrared-guided missile threats, especially man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS). In January 2026, ESLT secured contracts worth approximately $150 million to supply DIRCM systems to European customers.
Northrop Grumman is a leading name in the aerospace sector. NOC provides Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (“LAIRCM”) systems that detect, track and counter infrared-guided missile threats. This laser-based DIRCM solution is installed on more than 1,500 aircraft across 85 aircraft types.
BAE Systems' AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (“CMWS”) protects aircraft against infrared missile threats, with more than 3,000 systems installed across over 40 aircraft platforms. In February, BAE Systems secured $137 million Foreign Military Sales contracts from the U.S. Army to deliver CMWS to allied nations.
Radical New Technology Could Hand Investors Huge Gains
Quantum Computing is the next technological revolution, and it could be even more advanced than AI.
