Do Wall Street Analysts Like Pentair Stock?

Pentair plc (PNR), with a market capitalization of approximately $10.6 billion, is a global water-solutions company focused on sustainably moving, improving, and enjoying water. The London, United Kingdom-based company provides residential, commercial, industrial, and pool solutions, including water flow management, treatment, filtration, and pool equipment.

Shares of this leading water-solutions company have considerably underperformed the broader market over the past year. PNR has declined 38% over this period, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied 20.4%. On a year-to-date basis, PNR has continued to underperform, plunging 36.5% compared with the index’s 13.7% gain over the same period.

Narrowing the comparison, PNR has also underperformed the Invesco Water Resources ETF (PHO), which has declined marginally over the past year and gained 2.2% on a YTD basis.

On July 28, Pentair reported its Q2 FY2026 earnings, alongside the announcement of a definitive agreement to acquire Taco Group Holdings for approximately $1.4 billion, sending shares up 5.7% the same day. Pentair’s net sales fell 17% year-over-year to $932.6 million, primarily due to approximately $170 million of Pool channel inventory destocking. Adjusted EPS declined 18% to $1.14.

Pentair updated its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of $4.60 to $4.80 and full-year sales guidance of down approximately 4% to 7%. For Q3, the company guided adjusted EPS to $1.05 to $1.08, and sales to decline approximately 4% to 6%.

For the current fiscal year ending in December 2026, analysts expect PNR’s diluted EPS to decrease 5.5% to 4.65. However, PNR has surpassed consensus EPS estimates in each of the past four quarters, which is impressive.

Among the 19 analysts covering PNR stock, the consensus rating is “Moderate Buy.” The rating is based on seven “Strong Buys,” one “Moderate Buy,” seven “Holds,” one “Moderate Sell,” and three “Strong Sells.”

PNR’s analyst configuration is more bearish than it was a month ago, when the stock had eight “Strong Buy” recommendations.

On July 29, 2026, Citi analyst Andrew Kaplowitz maintained a “Buy” rating on Pentair and lowered the price target from $106 to $85.

The mean price target of $79.94 implies a 20.8% upside from PNR’s current share price, while the Street-high target of $125 suggests a potential upside of 88.9%.
